LEAVING LAS VEGAS

AFTER TWO WEEKS WE HAVE LEFT LAS VEGAS AND HEADED FOR PALM SPRINGS. OUR LAST DAYS IN LV WERE LOTS OF FUN. WE WENT TO THE NATIONAL FINALS RODEO ON WEDNESDAY AND THE AFTER PARTY THURSDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE MIRAGE. GREAT COUNTRY MUSIC. SO MANY COWBOYS, SO LITTLE TIME. THE RODEO WAS GREAT! BULL RIDING, BRONCO BUSTING, BARREL RACING, CALF ROPING. THESE GUYS DO IT ALL IN TIGHT JEANS, A COWBOY HAT AND BOOTS. AND AFTERWARD THEY CAN TEXAS TWO STEP TOO. JOAN WAS LOVING IT. WE'D LIKE TO THANK OUR WRANGLER FRIEND, RAY COEY, FOR THE TICKETS TO THIS GREAT EVENT!
ARRIVED IN PALM SPRINGS YESTERDAY. THE WEATHER IS GREAT! 87 TODAY. LAST NIGHT WE WALKED THE DOWN TOWN STRIP. LOTS OF SHOPS, RESTAURANTS AND BARS. THIS MORNING DWIGHT PICKED ORANGES AND GRAPEFRUIT OFF THE TREE IN FRONT OF OUR ROOM FOR BREAKFAST.
WE SPENT THE DAY LOOKING AT GOLF COURSE COMMUNITIES. HARD TO FIND SOMETHING NOT TO LIKE. WE MET OTHER COUPLES THIS EVENING AT A RECEPTION FOR PROSPECTIVE BUYERS. SCOTT AND BARBARA FROM THE SAN DIEGO AREA WERE FUN AND WANTED TO BE ADDED TO OUR BLOG. SCOTT IS IN COMPUTERS AND KNOWS HOW TO UNSUBSCRIBE US. TOMORROW WE LOOK AT MODELS AND TUESDAY PLAY GOLF.

Hi Dwight and Joan Looks like you have a nice holiday. This is the way the life should be . I am still working hard but hopefully one day to be like you just to relax and take it easy. when you said the temp was 87 and it's 11 degrees here, YOU are in the right place. I never thought of Las Vegas as a rodeo show, but I guess Vegas has everything. We met for book club last Thursday. lots of snow that night. I think you would enjoy Maisie Dobbs, it's an easy read but filled with mystery, and social class background from pre WWI. I loved it. So hope your next stop is as nice as Vegas sounded.

Being Cubs fans you were fortunate to be away and distracted during a very sad time in Chi town. It is hard to believe Ronnie and Pat will not be enteraining everyone on WGN next season. He had a wonderful send-off....from his wake at Holy Name, and his memorial service there on Friday, and the procession up to Wrigley etc. It was awesome. I never did ask Joan if she got up near the booth to chat with him.MW

We made the blog!
Met Dwight and Joan Sunday and again Monday at Shadow Hills Sun City. Then, on their advice, tooled on down to Trilogy by Shea Homes. Clearly higher quality of construction and nicer neighborhoods with sidewalks! Thanks for directions, Joan! Have a good time playing golf, but it's cooling off tomorrow, high of only 77. --Scott & Barbara
