PALM SPRINGS

We have been in Palm Springs since last weekend. This has been our first opportunity to play golf. We looked at several 55+ golf course communities and played golf at Sun City Shadow Hills. Met lots of nice people and think this would be a great place to live some day. Still keeping our options open for Arizona and Sacramento.

We are staying at a great little place about a mile from the very quaint and cute downtown Palm Springs. It has only 25 units built around a pool and hot tub in the shadow of the mountains. It is part of our vacation club and would recommend it to anyone. So let us know it you are ever coming here. We can get you a great deal on a one bedroom unit with kitchen. Also they have orange and grapefruit trees on site to pick your own breakfast.

Headed for the hot tub now, so will check in again when we get to Northern California where we will spent the Christmas Holidays with Joan's family and Ben.

Cubs update ...
So it looks like you are enjoying PS (PS I love you used to be a slogan for Palm Springs). Dwight, you look pretty relaxed!!!! Sports news --- the Trib says that the Cubs are negotiating with Kerry Wood to be a RH mid-reliever to back up Carlos --- Could I be so lucky for this summer. It is cold and gray today in the city with big shoulders --- while I wish you were here I think you are lucky to be out there. Laurie

Merry Christmas
Thanks for your updates and pictures. It is most luxurious to enjoy warm weather at this time of the year. The biggest news in my family thid year is my younger daughter had her first baby daughter at 37 years old. In addition, my elder daughter is expecting he fisrt baby in April at 42 years old. My son has one son and one daughter. Merry Christmas & Happy new year.

You missed the best Sun City!
Hi Dwight and Joan, Carl Chou sent me the link to your blog and filled me in our your adventure. Just have one thing to offer - by skipping Sun City Texas you may have missed the very best 55+ community in the country. No state income tax, 3 excellent golf courses, only 35 miles north of Austin (think Texas Longhorns), lots and lots of midwest folks (the very best kind), and....Alaska Airlines flies a round trip non-stop every day from Austin to Seattle! On top of that we do have the second best baseball team in America...and I'm not talking about the Astros. Before you make the final decision you should wander this way... In any event, good luck on your trek and best wishes for the Holidays. Bill

I am so jealous of your adventures!!! So glad you are having such a great time. Our best to Ben and his fiance. When is the wedding? We are in florida in our new digs and love it!! Still haven't sold our other Florida house but so far we aren't desperate!! Just less money for the kids inheritence.
