Magnificent Sunset !
Sunsetting last night at the KOA campgrounds in St. Marys, Montana. After a good nights sleep we said goodbye to Glacier National Park and were on our way to Washington State. We were well rested and prepared for our long journey through the rest of Montana and the state of Idaho. We were hoping to make it all the way to Spokane without having to stop overnight in Idaho. Tim stopped at the first gas station so we could gas up and hit the road. We didn’t stop again until lunchtime and boy was that scary. Now, you must understand that there’s not a whole lot to pick from up here in these hills but we spotted a Subway and decided it would work. Kayla had fell fast asleep and Tim was driving so Emmy and I were on our own. We walked up to the front door and I swear, I should’ve known then to turn around and get the heck out of there. You would think that the bullet hole going straight through the glass in the upper section of the door would have been enough reason to run. But no, at this point we were starving and we didn’t really have any other choice but to go in. As
Flathead Lake !
This is the largest body of water west of the Mississippi River ! we are standing in line debating and discussing all of our options, these two “shady” looking characters enter the store and get in line behind us. There were about three people in between them and us. I looked at Emily and we kinda gave each other that look you do when “shady” looking people walk into a Subway and get in line behind you. Well, about two minutes later the manager comes up to the front counter and yells across the restaurant “You two need to get out of here right now !”. Uhhhh, they didn’t move, and so she yells it again. They were like “What’s your problem?” and she said “You are under investigation by the FBI for armed robbery of this store and you need to leave !”. At first, Emily and I thought they all knew each other and they were kidding around together. But, no, apparently it wasn’t a joke, she was dead serious. Okay, at this point, you know I’m about to, let’s see, need to change my pants !! I’m looking at Emily and I said to her “Let’s get the heck out of here !!!”. She replied, “But they just finished my
Tim in Front of Flathead Lake !
There's a whole lotta water out there Tim ! :-) sandwich !” I said “I’m sorry we’ll just have to get another one somewhere else.” The manager yells at them again to get out or she’s calling the police ! They said a few choice words and finally left. I was horrified !! I thought, okay, they are going to the car to get a gun and come back in here and kill us all. By this time, all of our sandwiches were made, I paid the lady and we ran for the RV. As soon as we got in, I told Tim “Get us the hell outta here before bullets start flying !! About twenty minutes later, after my heart stopped beating out of my chest, Emily gets Kayla up and we all enjoyed our sandwiches as Tim skillfully drove up the highway while eating his. I decided it was time to get a little cat-nap in so I headed to the back for some shut-eye. No sooner than I get back there, here comes the girls wanting to watch a movie, so I have to fall asleep to S aw III. I mean, come on, have you ever seen this movie !!! Yeah, so my nap didn’t last
More Beautiful Views !
Montana has the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen ! very long ! A little while later Tim pulls over and announces that we are at Flathead Lake. We get out take some pictures admire the view and then head on down the road. Little did we know what was waiting for us down the road, never mind, not down the road, but in the road. A herd of the most gorgeous wild horses you’ve ever seen were galloping up the hill and over the highway. It was an amazing sight to see ! Thank goodness Tim saw them in time and didn’t turn any of them into road kill. I think he would have lost that battle and we may have been stranded out in no mans land. I mean horses are a little bigger than prairie dogs and birds ! We continue on as our travels take us through Lookout Pass, Wallace and The Silver Valley. Eventually we came to the Idaho state line and stopped for a couple of photos. Yes, Jason, you are going to have about 4000 pictures to make into a movie for us when we get back !! Oh my goodness, it’s now 11:15 and we are in Ellensburg, Washington, I guess you
Run Horses Run !!
They just came over the hill out of nowhere ! can say we met our goal of reaching Spokane !! Tim drove for 12 hours straight, for a total of over 560 miles, only stopping for gas and food. I must say this was the roughest ride we’ve endured so far. The roads were terrible for most of the trip and once we got out of Montana there wasn’t much to look at as far as scenery. The girls played cards and listened to their ipods a lot and I think they did really well for such a long trip. We’re anchored down at the Flying J Truck Stop just off the highway and we’re only about an hour and a half from Seattle where we’ll be going in the morning. I’m going to close now and try to get some rest. Take care and I’ll talk to ya soon.
Side Notes :
I realized today :
That we have survived for 10 whole days without Chick-Fil-A or Waffle House !
That I can handle Tim’s driving much better when the vehicle has a governor on it and can only go 76 miles per hour !
As my feet
Wild Horses in Montana !!
Just when we think we've seen it all ! were propped up on the dashboard, that my pedicure has survived 10 days and 12 states !! Thanks for the recommendation of the new place on Rock Quarry Amber !
That I learned what a snow fence was in Montana !
That my Daddy’s tomatoes are AWESOME and I wish I had some more !
That we have passed approximately 75 - 80 Casinos and have not stopped at a single one!
That Tim has only been through one bottle of Crown so far !
That I really miss all my friends and family way more than I thought I would !
