Traveling through 4 states (Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming) went well for Millie, who is now having a couple of day's break in a nice campground in West Yellowstone, less than a mile from the park's West entrance. We spent a good bit of time in the park today and were thrilled to see a herd of Elk within 10 minutes of entering. The boys have also pointed out bison, mule deer, prairie dogs and either a bald or golden eagle's nest with the hopes of seeing a bear and moose during the trip. The geysers, hot springs and mud pots were really amazing and we'd like to see more tomorrow. We had dinner overlooking Old Faithful as we waited for the eruption which occurs anywhere from 40 to 90 minutes. This is our fourth national park. Thank goodness the boys bought Mark a walking stick for his birthday. Not so much for the "reasonable and appropriate" hikes we are taking but for propping up the curtains that are falling down in the bedroom. Needless to say, we are laughing a lot. Camping has been really tough. We're sitting here with microbrews bought in Idaho Falls that were chilled in

This is a good view not only of the grazing animals but of the damage that is still visable today of the fires of a decade ago.
the 165-quart cooler we're hauling (actually, one of Mark's best ideas) after having watched Ghostbusters with the kids and planned tomorrow's activities -- including steaks on the new Weber Q200 portable grill. I will be roughing it, though. I'm certain the local gazette won't stack up to the Arizona and Salt Lake City newspapers I've been enjoying for the past week.
