Early start to day as we need to meet our tour guide at 9am for our Free walking tour. We went downtown via bus again. It is a easy ride and tickets are only $2.25 and we got off right outside Pikes Market Place.

The harbour is very picturesque and is a hub of activity. Met Molly the tour guide and went for an informative tour of the famous Pikes Market Place. Lucky we got here early as the place is packed by 9.30am. We tried free samples of food from vendors - had the best smocked salmon ever and watched the world famous fish vendors throwing fish! Truly a sight to see! The stalls selling fresh flowers were just amazing. Flowers were so very fresh - bees buzzing around collecting the pollen.

Checked out the "second germiest place in the world". It is a wall called Gum Wall. This long alley is filled with bits of chewing gum stuck everywhere. The story of the wall is that many years ago people were not allowed gum in the theatre so before they went in to see the show they stuck their used chewing gum on the and so began

the tradition. It has now become a tourist attraction with everyone taking photos of this unique sight.

Went down to the pier and had clam chowder and chips for lunch at Ivars restaurant. That was a new experience. Such a busy place and the only place we've ever seen that encourages guests to feed the seagulls! The seagulls are so huge they look like they are on steroids!

We walked right along the harbour and visited Century Field. There was a baseball game going on in the next stadium. People were everywhere - lined up for miles. Americans certainly take their sport seriously.

The afternoon saw us go for a ride on the Washington State ferry. For $7.70 you get a relaxing return trip over to Bainbridge island. The ferry is huge and it is a great way to take in the sights of the city.

We had dinner back at Ivars this time we had oysters and chips - very fresh and yummy.

We are enjoying Seattle. It is a clean harbour side city and is culturally diverse ( as is many cities of the USA). They have a great recycling program which is

makes me happy!

Back at our b&b we are enjoying all the local knowledge the innkeeper Linda is sharing with us. Linda is a lovely lady and very helpful. I enjoy chatting to her and learning about her city.
