SO!!! first of all, hello and welcome to all our friends and family who take the time to visit this site as we take off around the world! i forewarn you, this may be slightly awkward at first as i'm not accustomed to documenting our travels (or anything) in this manner 😊 but, as this is a
slightlybigger travel journey than the norm, adam and i wanted to ensure that our families stay updated on where we are, with the knowledge that we're safe, while being able to enjoy some glimpses of this wonderfully exciting adventure we're fortunate enough to embark on.
the big picture: we start our trip with a long drive from seattle down through california, stopping to visit relatives along the way. we pick up carmen, adam's mom, in atascadero, who we're so grateful and excited to have joining us for the first leg of our journey! also in atascadero, we temporarily part ways with our much-loved puppy osa...BUT we are so appreciative that she'll be in great hands with sean and family. we then fly out of LAX on friday september 14th, for a total of two weeks in colombia. we fly back to LA for a few days of rest, laundry, and a potentially debaucherous dinner at medieval times, drop off carmen, then take off again for singapore, thailand, and possibly cambodia as well, for six weeks more. wow, that's a mouthful! when we return to the states we're thinking about temporarily relocating for a change of scenery. adam is itching for a new job and will relish the opportunity to expand his experience having passed his professional engineering (PE) exam back in the spring. i too can't wait to broaden my icu nursing experience, hopefully at a larger university hospital. we'll be doing some in-person research by driving to denver, and perhaps a few other cities, to get a feel for what and where we like. hopefully we'll see more family along the way, and be back in seattle in december in time to celebrate the arrival of mark and becky's little girl...SOOexcited for that!! 😊
for anyone who doesn't already know our story...adam and i met at my good friend 80's-style track suit beer olympics birthday party in march of 2008. all guests present took turns drawing a colored piece of neon fabric out of a hat which placed us in corresponding teams, about five people per team, to later be subjected to a beer-laden obstacle course. adam and i both pulled a pink swatch. sadly, we went on to
narrowly lose the beer olympics (to the birthday girls' team, of course), but took the opportunity to get somewhat acquainted. this led to phone numbers being swapped and an ensuing date the following week. henceforth, adam has been remained in my cell phone as "adam team pink!" and, somehow, i still have my pink length of fabric from that day that i keep next to a picture of us 😊
so, thank you again, we love you all, and stay tuned! xo

Sounds like a Great Trip
You guys have a great time on your travel, but one word of advise since being pickpocketed in Mexico. Keep your valueables secure on your body because I lost my wallet and $700 out of my front pocket of my pants and did not realize until later when I remembered a guy bumped into me as I was entering the airport at Quadalajara. Look forward to reading about your travel. Best Wishes...... Daryl
