Are You Experienced? The Experience Music Project/Science Fiction Museum, Seattle, Wa. Bonus: Hendrix’s gravesite in Renton, Washington. Thursday, August 12, 2010 (Hendrix site: August 19th) Of course, Jimi Hendrix being from Seattle provides an excellent excuse to open a museum in his honor, which is exactly what Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen did in 2000, with the building designed by Frank Gehry. His personal music collection, beginning with the purchase of an assorted lot of Hendrix’s person effects, was too precious to be locked away in some McMansion. This leads us to the Experience Music Project, the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” of the left coast. Situated at the base of the Space Needle, the $15 dollar admission price ($12 for students/teachers) covers both the Experience Music Project (EMP) and the Science Fiction Museum (I’m not ... read more

We are very tired. It's 7:15 for crying out loud. I just sent Pete out for a store run. That big king sized overstuffed bed is starting to look pretty good. If you open up the blinds and turn off all the lights, the view of the city at night is absolutely spectacular! Nighty night........ read more

Up at 3:30 this morning. Gawd that's early. We arrived in Seattle about 10:30 this morning. Raining cats and dogs. It's beautiful here. I forgot what fall looks like. All the bright colors of the leaves. The smell of rain. Really a nice day. Our flight was without drama, as was picking up the car at the rental. We were able to check into our hotel early and did you check out that view? We are on the 32nd floor. Really nice, except for the letter left by the hotel that said "The towers of the Westin Seattle are designed to be flexible in the event of high winds or an earthquake. This flexibility allows the building to absorb energy while remaining structurally sound. High winds may cause noise in your guestroom as energy is dissipated ... read more

So as promised here is the apartment that I will be in for the next 6 months! I also have pictures of my wonderful drive up here. I crossed South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana. I made fun of Butte Montana so much Karma paid me back and took my gas.... So I had a wonderful hike in Montana. Though I did enjoy the walk, even with the 5 gallon gas tank. The drive was nice. I was able to see Mount Rushmore and the gorgeous Yellowstone park. Overall it was a good drive. Enjoy the pictures. ... read more

Day 2 Emphasis on the word "walk." But, let's start from the beginning. We woke up at 4:00 AM, our EST internal clocks still telling us it was time to go to work. We fell back asleep for a couple more hours. We had probably the best sleep either of us has had in a really long time. It might be the pillows or maybe it's because there were no cats to wake us up (but we do miss Simba and Nala!) Either way it was some good sleeping. Anyway... we woke up at 6 PST and actually went for a run. Editor/Melissa' note: Jamie had a couple sentences here about how out of shape I am, etc, but I think he was pretty happy when I asked him to slow down the pace. I redeemed ... read more

Welcome to TEAM ZOIC TravelBlog... After a stressful morning of making sure we had everything we need for this bicycle tour, after a long drive from P-Town, and after experiencing Seattle rush-hour traffic, we're finally here! Seattle, the point my friend Rene and I both chose to start our accumulation of miles (kilometers in Canada, of course) travelling on our aluminum steeds, our bicycles, to experience multi-day touring, "roughing it" and sometimes, "hostelling" it :) Since 2000, Rene and I have ridden countless miles together including the yearly classic, Seattle to Portland ride. This year, instead of riding the "double century" STP, we have decided to at least double the "double century"(400miles instead of 200). We have decided to ride to Vancouver B.C., and depending on the amount of time we have, we might even ... read more
