Just setting up the blog site is making me itch for the airport. I've never been to the S. Carribbean and I am so excited to see the locals, culture, and eat some food! I know that I will enjoy every moment I am gone and dread coming back...but thankfully I have all of you wonderful people to bring me back to reality. :o) I will try not to blog too much before I leave. LOL... read more

Here we go! After two months of excruciating processes, extensions and heartbreak, the house is sold and we will be on the road by the end of next week. We'll be picking up our 5th Wheel Monday or Tuesday and heading for Portland first then on our way to see my son (and the sun) in northern CA. We can't wait to get started! ... read more

The quarter has ended, but soon the snow storms begin! Many of us experienced a definite "snowed in" feeling as roads became impassable. Fortunately the power stayed on, so I was able to use the Internet to help plan my upcoming trip to New Zealand and email hotels, hostels and campgrounds for reservations. Below are some pictures of our home in the snow.... read more

So HUGE update about my upcoming trip to Italy in 38 days! My plan had been to apply for a visa using an online site that "claimed" it would be able to send in my visa for me, so that I would not have to travel to apply in person. Well, about one week ago I received a message that this site would be able to complete my visa at this time. OKAY.... well this left me with very little time to find a new way of getting my visa without having to go in person to the Italian Consulate. Which by the way for Washington state is located 700 miles away in San Francisco, California, not exactly close by. One more small slightly more important piece of information about Italian visas is that you have ... read more

I have been working hard these last few weeks to get ready for the trip, and today it finally began! To summarize my past few weeks, I gradated with my mechanical engineering degree from Oregon State, I participated in the Formula SAE West competition in LA with the OSU car, and I moved out of the house in Corvallis and into my parent’s house. And in case nobody was aware, my parents are awesome! I got to spend some time with them (along with my coolest sister) the last week. I finished organizing all my stuff, and packed for my long journey ahead this summer. And I will definitely miss the kittens at home, and my sister informed me that the kittens miss me already after one day. Today was my first day of traveling, and ... read more

Well, we've got nearly 4 weeks until we leave, but we're busily incorporating travel preparations into our daily routine. It's been a while since we've taken a real vacation. The last one was a road trip from Seattle to L.A. for Christmas in 2003 that was extended by a day when snow closures in the Siskiyou Mountains stopped our return journey in Redding, California. I made one brief trip to L.A. in 2004, but our family travel since that Christmas trip has been limited to weekend and holiday trips to see family and friends in Washington and Oregon. A lot has changed since that Christmas trip. We've bought and sold one house and bought a condo. We've both changed jobs and churches. My parents moved from L.A. to Lynnwood, Washington. And, most importantly (and joyfully), our ... read more
