Everything is fixed. After another month in Portsmouth waiting for parts, I finally returned to Hampton. I've been here a month relaxing. It got a little tense when Isaias came through but no damage. Seaquel is up for sale and now I am in waiting mode again , this time waiting for a buyer. It is nice not having to check weather and tides and to not be at the helm for hours every day. Time to get off the boat and move into a condo. Ha. Bring on the next adventure. ... read more

On 17 August Mi Hyon and I returned to Langley AFB to formally retire from my second career working for the US Air Force. The first time I retired from active duty and this time around from Civilian Service, surely the last time I will retire. My friends from Air Combat Command provided me a truly memorable send off, for which Mi Hyon and I are eternally grateful. We stayed at Langley AFB FamCamp until we left for New England on 1 September for a two month stay.... read more

The trip from Myrtle Beach went flawless, the weather continued to be mostly sunny and very warm. We stopped in Wrightsville, Beaufort, Belhaven and following the suggestion of Michel Tremblay, we stopped at Coinjock and not like him who had the 32 once prime ribs, I only had the 16 once. We were then in Virginia and respected our insurance regulations.

Made it back to Salt Ponds on Sat. I left the marina after two nights. the weather was better but as always lots of wind. I dreaded going through the Cape Fear River because I knew I was going to have opposing wind and current which means rough water but I wanted to make it to Wrightsville Beach and get a day up when my brother got on the boat. I see why they call it Cape Fear. Very rough and choppy. When the tide changed it became a little less rough but pretty big folllowing sea. Made for an uncomfortable ride and lots of big wheel correction to keep it on course. Took about 2 1/2 hours to get through it then hit a shallow channel at Snows cut. A big trawler passed me just ... read more

Planning on taking off tomorrow on a short hop to Portsmouth, Va. Leave Portsmouth Monday about 7 AM to make the bridges and lock. If everything goes smooth I'll try to make Coinjock NC before dark Monday night. If not I'll hold up in Great Bridge and make Coinjock on Tuesday. The stop after Coinjock will be at anchor in the Allegator River just past Albamarle sound. I have heard that the Ben Sawyer Bridge in SC will be closed from Nov. 13 for 10 days so I'll either have to make it before it closes, wait for 10 days somewhere or head into the ocean to bypass it. The boat is full and I have the charts I need. Friends have been great with feeding me info and updated charts and have saved me a ... read more

As I have been working on the Peninsula Town Center project in Hampton, VA and have fallen in love with the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, Jennifer came up for a long weekend of exploring the tourist attractions, dining, and shopping options. In addition to the natural beauty this area is also wonderful because of the significance in our country's history from early colonial times to the Revolution to the Civil War. We spent our time in Hampton Roads' Seven Cities (Chesapeake, Norfolk, Newport News, Hampton, Suffolk, Virginia Beach and Portsmouth) and the Virginia Peninsula (Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg). Hampton On our first day we spent visiting Hampton and had dinner and toured that evening with the Jordans. Hampton's claim to fame is that it is the... read more

... read more
