Geo: 37.5547, -76.3372We left Port Kinsale Marina around 7:00 this morning to cloudy skies. But, it never rained in the morning (it did overnight), and got clearer as the day progressed. There was absolutely no wind on the water today, so we would not have been able to use the mainsail today anyway. It was a very relaxing and lazy day.We docked in the same slip at Doziers Regatta Point, where the trip began. Tomorrow we will probably head back to the river house.Despite the mechanical and weather challenges, we have had a great time. At the end of May, we head out for our 5-week cross country road trip in the RV. ... read more

Geo: 37.5547, -76.3372We headed back out today from the river house, around 2:10. The sky looked a little ominous but the forecast called for a slight chance of showers. We docked at Norton's in Deltaville around 5:15. The weather was great while we were out, but it looks like we could get some rain tonight (as you can see from the picture).Tomorrow, the plan is to head north again. We expect to take off around 7:00 am, and sail to Point Lookout Marina up the Potomac River.... read more

Geo: 37.5547, -76.3372I think we made the right decision in staying in the marina today. The winds are definitely intense. We are having pretty steady winds between 20-25 knots, and have been so since about 2:30 am. I got up around 4:00, put in my contacts, and stumbled around the deck to tighten the lines to keep us off the dock. I also put out a couple of fenders. It was gusting up to 30 knots by 10:00 am.On a good note, Matt saw our blog yesterday and offered to drive by the house this morning and bring my forgotten items to the marina. He was leaving his river house on his way back to Richmond. Yea for Matt!! I won't need to put in my contacts in the middle of the night, or lose my ... read more

Geo: 37.5547, -76.3372The forecast today was for afternoon rain, and the potential for thunderstorms late tonight. Around 4:15 pm, the sky got real dark and it rained lightly for about 15 minutes. We arrived in the marina around 5:15. Of course, the wind started blowing up when we rounded the marker coming into Deltaville, but it dropped nicely as we were getting read to dock.it is about 6:00 pm, now, and the sun is out, light breeze, and beautiful. We plan to stay in this marina again tomorrow because Wednesday calls for 30 knot gusts, and 4-5 foot seas on the Chesapeake Bay. I think we will just wait until Thursday to head up the Bay.Happy hour time!... read more

Geo: 37.5547, -76.3372The Engine has been dropped back into the boat and now our work begins to get everything reconnected. With the engine back in place, Tony's been working hard to get the aft cabin built back up. It will be nice to us the actual companionway steps again rather than a ladder! Our lights, fridge AC outlets and stereo are back up and running! What luxury! Nevertheless, we still are in "camping mode" without running water, a stove, etc. Tony has almost completed the installation of the nav system, AIS, VHF and weather. He's like a kid in a candy store with his new gadgets!I've been staining and applying epoxy resin to all the wood Tony has fabricated. Will insert a pic when I have one! ... read more

Ok I have to admit that I hoped to not send out another message from Deltaville.... we thought we would have left by now. But a few issues came up, and the weather has not co-operated since those issues were corrected, and so we are still here for Christmas. Luckily although the winds are not in our favour at least the temperature is higher than orginally forecast and it is not unpleasant at all. We work on projects and watch the weather carefully for our departure. We went through our first crazy winds in the water. It was not fun being tied to a dock with winds changing direction all night and gusting to gale forces. It was a learning experience and good practice since we took shifts checking the lines and fenders. We would have ... read more
