I suppose this journey of mine started when I graduated from college. Like most before me, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I did, however, know with a very strong conviction that I wanted to see what I could of the world before getting caught up a career, mortgage, real life, responsibility, etc etc etc. First thing was first, I had to go abroad. So I spent almost two months backpacking the continent of Europe. My experiences here were paramount and I learned so much about myself, the world, and how to say ‘cheers’ in like six different languages. I suppose posting a blog with pictures would be necessary to explain my trip but here were a few highlights anyways: World Cup 2006 in several German cities, 3 days ... read more

VIDEO ON THE LEFT - SKIM OR SWIM AT THE CANYONS After 4 days of sight seeing i landed in Park City Utah, home of the Sundance film festival and close to the site of the 2002 winter olympic games. I was catching up with Sandy, a mate of mine from uni who i hadn't seen for about 3.5 years as we'd both been travelling in different places at different times - although we worked out that at one stage we were in the same part of Portugal at the same time, which is fairly typical of my organisational skills. I planned on spending 3 nights up there and ended staying for about 12. Most of the time was spent in one of the following activities - skiing, poker or drinking. One of the boys ... read more

Hola mis amigos y familia - I hope everyone is well Well it has been a little while since my last blog so I wanted to update everyone on what is going on out here in my neck of the woods. The season here is coming to an end quickly. I survived another PIB "invasion" - People in Black, the people who come in for the Sundance film festival ( click here for the full size pictures). This festival i only drove around a few stars: scarlet johansen, Dennis hopper, Bruce Hornsby ... none of which tipped!!! Today I am suppose to close on the sale of my house which will make me officially homeless. Though I think I have been "homeless" for 8 years since I have been on a "trip" for the last eight ... read more

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!!!!!! hey don't want to read, click here for photos / fotos well i have completed the final leg of my trip and I am back in Park city, Utah where i will work another winter at Stein Eriksen lodge. I took a greyhound bus (the last time i will do that) from Duluth Minnesota to salt lake city. The trip ended up taking about 53 hours. Not all of it was on the bus since salt lake is only about 22 hour drive from Duluth. In Kansas city , Kansas, the bus to Denver was full so even though i had a ticket i could not get on it and I had to back track to somewhere in Iowa. To make matters worse i left my backpack in the over head rack. ... read more

Driving across Nevada was a very boring experience for all drivers concerned - 9 hours of nothingness. It even had the cheek to rain. The endless miles of desert changed into miles of Salt plains the minute we crossed into Utah - very bizarre. Passed the site of where the land speed record is held (but even Chuck resisted the urge to upstage it!!). Park City is gorgeous - an old mining town that outstripped Heavenly by miles. Our first day saw us coming face to face with deep powder, blizzards, white outs and queues of people!!!!!!!!!!! How rude! Slept well that night!! Sara opted for another lesson on Park City slopes while Gill and and I donned our posh pants and headed to the boarder free resort of Deer Valley - 5 mins away from ... read more
