Finally!
I guess its not an adventure unless you've overcome challenges. This morning as we were preparing to leave the campground I went outside to empty the waste tanks and when I pulled the valve open our sewer hose promptly blew apart. The result wasn't as bad as the scene with Robin Williams in the movie "RV", but it did require some unpleasant cleanup. What a way to start the day.
We got on the road and soon crossed the border into Utah. The countryside changed to basically a desert. For forty or fifty miles along I-70 for as far as you could see in any direction about the only sign of human beings was the highway itself. As we approached Moab we started to see lots of red rock formations.
We checked into our campground and took off for Arches National Park, just up the road. We were "ooing" and "ahhhing" all the way through the park. The rock formations and scenery were otherworldly. We took a few walks but had to keep them short due to the heat and altitude.
So we are finally at our destination and it is well worth the trip. I hope the pictures do justice

On a trail

Are the rocks hard or soft like sandstone? It's pretty out there. Desolate. I think I would miss the trees.

Rocks
Seems like its mostly sandstone of different types. Barb and I have both said the same thing about Utah; we would miss the trees and lakes and clear streams that we have back home. Love all the sunshine but couldn't live with the heat. And we love the wide open spaces but would miss being where people grow things and make a living.
