Edit Blog Post
Last time we were in Arches NP last August, there were two arches we wanted to hike to, but we didn't think we had the time. Now we're back with our hiking shoes on and ready to go. We walked out to Landscape Arch first. So beautiful...we took lots of pictures, which Dave will post below - because I still don't know how to do that. And frankly, why should I learn when I have him right beside me ready to post. Anyway......we hiked to Landscape and then on to Pine Tree arch where we came to the end of the trail. I was very sad about being at the end of the trail, because we were having such a good time. You'll see by the picture (if Dave decides to post that one) how sad I was. I may be a little hard to see in the picture because I was wearing a new camouflage hat.
Then we drove to Delicate Arch traihead and started on that hike. Much harder; They said it was uphill ALL THE WAY, but it was NOT. Enough though that our (my) knees are sore tonight. Dave said he was hiking like a goat......an
OLD GOAT. hahahaha And he said it, not me, although I'm usually the mean one. While we were at Delicate Arch I found a new hat - one that can be seen; and you can see it for yourselves in the pictures Dave posts - if he decides to post that one.
The tall thin rock formations are called fins. They were formed when the underground salt bed around them sank and shifted leaving the stone formations to stand alone. Fins....that's what they're called, but we don't know how high or thin the rock formation has to be to qualify for fin status. Where's a carload of geologists when you need them.
PS Dave wants me to say that we hiked over 5 miles today; and we did.
