Geo: 40.9881, -109.722We left the Elk Mountain Hotel this morning and continued west on I-80 for about 180 miles. The wind was kicking up again across the vast nothingness of flatlands. It was pretty intense trying to judge the gusts while they were pushing around our little RV.Once we left the interstate in Green River, WY, we went about 50 miles south on a scenic road that winded up and around the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area that splits Wyoming and Utah.We pulled into the Lucerne Valley Campground and set up on the bank of the Flaming Gorge Reservoir around lunchtime.Sheila is out for her second run of the day. Tyre saga continues. The shop in Duchense failed to order a new tube, so the guys there, and Jim, spent a good couple of hours patching and refitting the tyre and wheel. They charged 15 bucks for all of their labour and use of their tools and workshop. Paid up for the pickup rescue, minimum charge of $145, and set off on our way again. Up the mountain, 100 odd miles later, tyre near flat again! Stopped at a gas station in the middle of nowhere, hoping they had an air line at least. They even stocked the tyre slime, which Jim squirted in but it still appeared to be losing pressure, so Andy (the guy in the gas station) phoned around found a store (around 40 miles away) who stocked a tube and arranged for ... read more

We’re settling into a nice comfortable routine now after working out all the usual bugs when first starting out. This is the third time renting a camper truck, so we’ve pretty much got this routine down to a science, with only a few hiccups. We’ve even added a few more nice-to-haves this time that will seem like must-haves for future trips: extension cord for the laptop and charging things inside, telescoping car washing brush, microfiber dish washing and drying cloths (forget cotton, these things rock; wet cloths can be squeezed almost completely dry and are completely dry within an hour), a whole roll of the sticky shelf liner for the table and counter tops so that things don’t slip and slide while on the road.
