Pops woke us up at 7 am again, he was making coffee. I took a shower and he woke up two sleepy girls. As I was getting out of the shower, he brought Lola in and we put her in the shower. Oh, forgot to mention we had a very sad thing last night. We discovered that Lola left 'Blanka' in the hotel in El Paso! She has had this blanket since birth... It was very sad. I called the hotel and they said they didn't find it. She cried and I told her it was ok to cry and be sad about it but we needed to think about a few things. We have so much to be happy about-we are all healthy and safe with lots of people who love us and if she wanted to we could get a new one and she could have it forever (as long as she doesn't forget it again-didn't say that part of course). She asked if we could go to 'Babies R Us' because that it is where it came from, so when we get to Asheville, we will go there. She asked to fall asleep in our bed since she was sad so of course that was fine-love snuggling with her.
After breakfast, we took off, hoping to get some good mileage in today....not so much!!
We were just a few miles down the road when the alarm sounded on the truck-registering 'Low Tire Pressure'. Fortunately the next exit had a Truck stop. You can go many miles in Texas before you even see an exit much less a Truck stop. Next to the Truck stop was a Tire place. The guy came out and looked at the tire and saw a piece of metal stuck in it. He only serviced big 18 wheelers so he said there is a Discount Tire one exit down-which is very fortunate. Ken unhooked the RV and we drove to the Discount Tire. They fixed it and after a Starbucks run and lunch pick up we got back on the road. All in all it was about a 3 hour delay. Once we got back on the road, we didn't see any real services until Ft. Worth. We also were blessed that the tire didn't blow and cause an accident. We drove through Dallas picking up I-30. It is really pretty crossing over Lake Ray Hubbard. It looked like it was raining in the distance and a rainbow was in front of us; a kind of assurance of God's beauty and promises.
We decided that we would eat around 6:30 then travel until 9 to make up some time. Once you get out of the big cities the choices become slim except for fast food. Google, Yelp and Trip Advisor really come in handy. I found a good review for 'Fat Boys Fine Food and Catering' in Caddo Valley, Arkansas. Yes, now we are in Arkansas. It seemed we would never get out of Texas. I'm not sure why but Arkansas feels kind of creepy. The roads are horrible! Maybe it's because a long time ago (1984) we came here for a wedding and there were 4 inch cockroaches outside our hotel room.
We pulled in to the very broken up parking lot of Fat Boy's and saw about 6 big 18 wheeler truckers-a good sign of good food. It's a little 'hole in the wall'. We are greeted by a friendly hostess/waitress and seated right away. The clientele is obviously a lot of truckers and locals. It is decorated with a variety of ceramic pigs; the daily menu including the available cobblers is listed on the whiteboard. Bella ordered the chopped pork, Pops-beef brisket, Lola-chopped pork sandwich with fries, Me-sliced pork. We shared sides of green beans, cole slaw and potato salad. Everything was delicious and we left feeling like a Fat Boy. I will write a good review for this place.
As we get back in the truck, I begin to look for an RV Park and I am not seeing anything until Memphis and we are not driving that far! So..we picked a Hampton Inn off of I-30. It was newly opened and very nice. We took showers and went to bed. Pops said we have to get up at 6 am.
