Glitz, glamour, and the Eiffel Tower! Well, at least the last one can be found in Paris, Texas. After I left Texarkana, my next stop was Paris, another town I had heard about in many ways over the years. I decided it wouldn't be so bad to spend New Year's Eve in Paris, even if it wasn't Paris, France. So this was the next-best thing. It was less than 90 minutes from Texarkana to Paris. My first stop was the Eiffel Tower, which is only about 20 years old. It's also only about 30 feet tall, but it has the distinction of having a cowboy hat at the top. Blogger: Katie Location: Paris, Texas. Howdy everyone! Well, we're in Texas as DJ told you. We just pulled off at a rest stop about 15 miles ago or so to switch out. I could only bang out about 100miles. Thankfully we're almost there. It is weird though to think that we are almost at our destination. It's been a really neat experience to drive across the country out here to Texas. It's too bad that DJ wasn't feeling well. But thank you all for your comments and well wishes. I'm sure that we will continue to update for the next couple of days as DJ gets settled in. Also weird. What? You didn’t know I went to Paris over the holidays? I am sneaky like that...but truth be told, this part of Paris was firmly rooted in the Texas soil of Lamar County. Around Christmas, I spent a few days visiting my friend Rochelle in McKinney, Texas, which is north of Dallas. When we learned that the town of Paris had erected a 64-foot steel structure in homage to the original (and two of her brothers were, indeed, in that famed city at the time), we knew a day trip was in the making. Of course, Texans have to put their own unique stamp on it, and perched atop the tower was a bright red cowboy hat!
