Marketing is a lucrative business out here. My mind's eye wandered when I saw cows, wide open fields and an endless sky. Ahhh, I thought - Texas is pretty interesting. So far, downtown historic Amarillo is um, quaint. Within a span of four blocks we saw two courthouses, three Bail Bonds stores and enough GMC dealerships to get us carjacked in my Honda Civic.
Back off of I-40, we hit the Big Texan restaurant, which was pretty much a touristy stop but we were freaking hungry. Huge place, with ribs n steak galore and I almost walked out of there saying y'all. In a state where cows roam the many miles free and trod in and out of dangerous caverns, the sunset and night skies go on forever.
We had to get the token magnet for our "fridge o' travels" and the shot glass. Maybe we shouldn't have been wearing our "Navy" sweatshirts into the restaurant since an Asian and a Black dude stuck out a little too sorely.
Big skies, great food, huge cows and even bigger Jesus sticks. We're heading out tomorrow to Farmington, New Mexico; three hours after NM will be Monument Valley and two awesome days in the Grand Canyon.
Cross
Apparently, it's the biggest freaking cross this side of the Western Hemisphere.
