Hey So here is the blog from Nashville!!!! I will try and be quick coz while its only 10:50pm here, I have an early start in the morning. Ok, so I came into Nashville on Wednesday after a 16hr bus journey which included layovers int he early hours of the morning, so I was pretty damn tired. I got to the greyhound station and you ring the hostel to get a lift to the place. I had to wait like half an hour but got my lift to a place outside of the city centre in an area called Brentwood. Its pretty cool out here, very quiet countryside. We drove through one of the rich areas of Nashville so a lot of big houses around here. I didn't do much that day, I got in and ... read more

On our way to our first stop in Tennessee, Kyle warned us about the lady who owned the RV park in Rocky Top, we were told how when we arrive she will come out and introduce herself and ask all our names, that she will call one of us sarah, that she will get on her golf buggy with her ugly dog and drive us to our destination waving manically at us to follow her, she will put her hand on the window mirrors and try to tell Kyle where to park, give us the house rules (this is her home, we are to treat it like our own home and trek doesnt pay her bills, RVs pay her bills so we are to be quiet), she will come to the site at numerous times during ... read more

17th- 18th August 2007 Karthik and I have been in Nashville since 2004 (me from 2002) but this is the first time, my aunt and her family from CA visited us. We were very excited and looked forward to this trip a lot. My aunt and uncle, their kids and my maternal grandmother came on the 16th. Their trip is divided into three blogs- local Nashville stops and the Smoky Mountains, Rafting at Ocoee and a trip to the Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky. Nashville Stops As for any tourist visiting Nashville- we visited the usual spots- The parthenon and Opryland Hotel. These places impressed the Californians-which is something I'll say I'll let the pictures speak for themselves here. The Great Smoky Mountain National Park This is ... read more

Ok, so all we really got to eat was the bbq, but even that's not bad. Sunday morning we flew out of Tampa, had a quick layover in Atlanta, then got picked up in Knoxville by my grandparents. On one of the flights I made the asinine move of leaving my cell phone in the seat as we left the plane, not realizing it until we were eating lunch in TN of course... After lunch we went and met my aunt/uncle/cousins in downtown Knoxville and explored the 1982 World's Fair site and the Sunsphere before heading over to a church for dinner and Trish got her first sampling of bbq pork. We then secured a spot outside the church to watch the nights fireworks show, attending by over 350,000 people. It was an incredible show that ... read more

We got to Graceland at 3:40….we got tickets and audio equipment for the tour then took a shuttle to the house. We were dropped off at the front steps of Graceland. The house was named after the original owner’s Aunt Grace….Elvis liked the name so much that he kept it. He bought the house when he was 21 for $100,000.00. We were very fortunate that we arrived so late in the day because it was virtually empty. This enabled us to move at our own pace. After a brief intro from an employee we entered the house. Once inside, our first stop was the living room. From there we saw the dining room and the kitchen and then headed downstairs to the entertainment room and the billiards room. We went back up and saw the “Jungle ... read more

We drove through the Smoky Mountains and listened to some bluegrass music while taking in the sights…it’s all about the music!! On the way to Nashville we stopped in Lynchburg, TN to take a tour of the Jack Daniels factory. It was an hour long tour and 104 degrees out…very enjoyable ;) LOL We went to the charcoal kiln, the original office, the distillery room and the mellowing room and wandered through the grounds. We had fresh lemonade after the tour and Jared got a limited edition bottle of Jack Daniel’s. We walked around the town (which consisted of a ¼ mile radius of stores all selling Jack Daniel’s memorabilia) and got ice cream cones to snack on. From Lynchburg we headed over to Nashville. We checked in to the hotel at about 7 (it was ... read more
