Checotah, Oklahoma
Carrie Underwood's Home town Got up around 7am, on the road by 8:30. Sunny and humid. We had our usual breakfast and watched a little news. We fueled up at a Shell station. I went inside to pick up ice and a few beverages: diet coke, coke, oj. While I was in there, a big black cricket jumped and landed on my boob. I almost had a heart attack! I quickly brushed it off and felt creeped out for about an hour. I had to go in the RV and wash my hands; as if that would make things all better. I felt better.
We called an RV park in Atlanta. I have been researching the area and it looked like a good one with the potential to store it there. Ken spoke to Diane there about our needs and we hope to be there by Tuesday night. That will give us time to get settled a little and look for an apartment. We are headed to Bryson City, NC for the Labor Day Weekend. My first day of work is Tuesday, September 4th.
We stopped in Checotah, Oklahoma (Carrie Underwood's hometown) for lunch and grocery shopping. We went to Wal-Mart for shopping.
I bought some hair products and the cashier called me "Baby Doll". We went to McDonald's (I feel sick now) for lunch and the cashier called me "Honey". The population of Checotah is 3,481 As we drove past the high school (the home of the Wildcats), an old fellow pulled out in front of us in his pick-up truck. We almost hit him. He seemed oblivious to his mistake. Ken had to honk the horn several times. I don't think many RVs drive through the little town. It truly looked like Mayberry, but smaller.
As we get further east we see more grass, green trees, clouds and feel more humidity. As soon as we cross the border in to Arkansas, it began to rain...just like it was controlled by the state line. It was just a short rain.
We set up two apartment viewings for Wednesday in Atlanta. I also have to find a printer to complete more new employee paperwork. I couldn't do all of this research without the Verizon 4G LTE. It has saved us so much time. I can find the RV campgrounds as we drive. It's great.
Drove almost all the way through
Arkansas. It's 95 and humid. We are staying at Tom Sawyer's RV Campground right on the Mississippi River. It's just a few miles west of the Tennessee border.
We got to the park and it is literally feet from the Mississippi River. The river is very low but still beautiful. The park has grass all the way to the bank. We had some wine and cheese and crackers and a hot dog for dinner. Ha Ha! Gourmet Meal. We sat outside watching the river with our meal. We called Uncle Don, Annie and Henna to check on things. There is a breeze, so it is tolerable. I walked down by the river through the grass and I'm sure I will have chigger bites. A couple pulls in next to us. They have a small trailer. They travel with a cat: "Daisy". She is an indoor cat, a calico. After the couple left for dinner, I walked up to their RV and looked through their window to see if I could see Daisy. There she was meowing at me. I wish I could pet her.
We walked down to the river to watch the barges. There are 3 of
them going down the river. It is dark now and the lights on the barges are pretty. The moon is very bright and shines on the river. A train is passing somewhere very near and blows the horn. It's a beautiful night.

I love Carrie Underwood! I also liked the pictures you posted of your RV in the last post. You have a fireplace, so cool! And the kitchen is big! Also I can picture the whole scene of the bug landing on you, Margie, I laughed when I read that!
