Day 32 - We had to have bags to the bus by 7:45am. One of the girls slept in therefore we didnt end up leaving til 8.
We got on our way. We passed though a little town called Hope in which Bill Clinton grew up. and reached the border of Texas and Arkansas, Texarkana. We made a quick stop, took a photo straddling the border and moved a little bit further into the town for lunch. We had KFC (FYI, here its actually still written on the sign as Kentucky Fried Chicken). We got left standing in the rain coz Jerry decided to take his time in the sandwich shop and there had been a storm following us across the country since we left Dallas.
We hopped on the bus finally and me and two others has decided enough was enough,we'd not had enough sleep and it just wasnt comfortable sleeping on the chairs all squished up so we decided it was time to sleep in the isle of the bus. I had a beach towel under me and my $3 Walmart pillow...it was so comfortable!! and finally, i got some sleep that wasnt cramped up!! The
Texarkana
the border between Texas and Arkansas things you resort to on a 26 day drive across the country huh?! haha
So we drove for about another 2.5 hrs before arriving at Little Rock, the capital of Arkansas.
It was just a quick restroom stop but we also got to see te capital building here, it was very similar to that of the capital building in Washington DC... this was impressive enough, i cant wait to get to DC.
We drove for about another 1.5 hrs before crossing another border and arriving in Memphis, Tennessee. We got cleaned up quickley and met in the lobby as Christina had organised for us to go to a minor league baseball game - Memphis Redbirds V Omaha. We had a party area here too so got a buffett dinner included. There was so much food and we were able to go back any time during 6-8pm to get more if we wanted it..even icecream.
we made our way down to our seats, we were the about 10minutes before nearly getting knocked out by a ball that was hit to us, Nathan managed to grab it before the rest of us had a chance to realise what the hell was going
on. Dani, Lauren and i then decided it was time to go and check out the merchandise stand, so we hopped up and made our way round thee stadium, before reaching the merchandise area we decided to take a walk down one of the isles to get some closer pictures. No one said anything to us or asked for tickets so we went and sat directly behind the Redbirds dugout! I kno its only a minor league game but it was very exciting to get this close, to look over the fence and see the team sitting there.
We also had one of the camera guys in front of us on the ground videotaping the game, before we knew it, there we were, up on the big screen! Score!! We ended up there 3 times before the game finished and the Redbirds won! Goooooo Redbirds!
After we made our way back to the hotel to get ready to head out.
Tonight the target was Beale St. Its one big street just full of clubs and pubs and you can walk round in this barricaded street (you have to be over 21 to get onto the street) and drink and its
ok. There was a group of 9 of us and we decided that we'd go cheap and get a Beale Street Big Ass Beer, it was a huge cup of beer for only $5.50. Its so gross but with a little of Marnees help i managed to finish the whole cup just in time to head into Coyote Ugly. It was set up much like the one in Vegas but it was about twice the size. It didnt take long and the Contiki girls were invited up on the bar for a dance, and of course there was no hesitation to get up there either.
We left there about 2 before heading back to the hotel for some nibblies then bed.
