I, my wife, and our grandson Kai left our house in Simpsonville a little after 8am. We arrived in Walhalla around 9:30, I got my backpack out and on, and we walked down to the Tourist & Visitor's Center. I kept an eye on Kai while my wife checked out the brochures and information they had. After a while, since I was standing there with my heavy backpack on, waiting, I finally left Manoli know I needed to leave. We said our goodbyes and I started walking out of Walhalla. Walhalla is a fairly small town, but I was never quite sure where the town ended. From the USAF Chaplain Corps College at Fort Jackson, SC I drove over to Lake Cherokee for some down time with Mom, Dad, Janine, and the kids. We spent the weekend boating, swimming, fishing, and I even got up on water skis. It was the first time in 15 years. Andrew and I went for a run each morning and Katherine was brave enough to let me drag her around the lake on an old boogie board. In the evenings all 6 of us enjoyed playing a card game called "Hand and Foot". I cherished the good company, good laughter, good conversation, and good memories. Thank you God for playtime in water.
