16th DDD
Our 16th DDD's Honey's Sit n Eat. Happy Labor Day everybody! We are still here in Pennsylvania but will be leaving tomorrow and heading to Cooperstown, NY. But before we do we had to go to Philly to check out the sites there. We started out the day eating at our 16th DDD's, Honey's Sit & Eat. It was good but not great. Guess we just have to resign ourselves to the fact that our standards must be higher than Guy's. After our meal we made our way over to the Independence Visitors Center where we picked up all the information for the historical sites in the area. We saw the Liberty Bell and where Betsy Ross lived as well as where Benjamin Franklin lived and died. We toured Independence Hall and the first Supreme Court building. It is just amazing that the buildings are still standing today seeing as they are well over 200 years old. We walked around the roughly 1.25 mile area where the 21 or so historical sites of interest are and it was a very pleasant day weather wise so we enjoyed our day. After we finished up there we drove over to the Art Museum so that I could get a picture
Independence Hall
Independence Hall. Too bad they are working on it. Guess they have to take advantage of the good weather. of one of my icons, Rocky Balboa. Ok, I know he is not a real person but then hey, neither is Goofy and he is another one of my icons. So I live in a fantasy world ok, at least it's a happy one. I also got a photo of the steps that Rocky ran up. Life is good! With so much accomplished we decided to call it a day but before we could leave Philly we needed to get a Philly Cheese Steak. I was told by Tim Colfer, a friend of mine who used to live in the area, that I needed to get one from either Geno's or Pat's. After researching them on the internet I found out that they are directly across the street from each other so we plugged Geno's into the GPS and decided to make the decision when we got there. We went with Geno's because he had a flashier building. Don stayed in the car with Karlie while I stood in line for about 30 minutes just to get a stupid sandwich. (Remind you of the Splash anyone????) They both had lines wrapped around the building and you better know what you
Washington @ Independence Hall
George Washington outside Independence Hall. want when you get to the window or you're going to get yelled at. There are only 6 tables to sit at outside so they are prime. I was getting mine to go so I didn't care. I was standing inbetween 2 sets of women and I could hear their conversations which cracked me up because they were both scared to order afraid of messing up and getting yelled at. Can you imagine! They started making me nervous. Needless to say the whole time I am waiting in line I am rehearsing my order: "2 philly cheesteaks with provolone please". So of course when I get to the window I blurt out "2 philly cheesteaks with provolone please." The lady just looks at me and yells "WELL, DO YOU WANT ONIONS?" Geez, I didn't know that was an option so I just said yes, even though I HATE onions because I was scared to tell her no. I figured I could pick them off. The area and place was crazy but we can chalk it up to a Philly experience. You will crack up at the pictures. We had a wonderful time in Philly and I really did like the
Liberty Bell Story
The story of the Liberty Bell. town and area.
We have been here 4 days and spent a lot of time in the Lancaster Amish area. I really do like this area and feel like I could stay here a couple of weeks just exploring the shops and countryside. I would come back here in a heartbeat if it weren't so danged far. The people are very friendly and the area is beautiful and green. Too bad we have to move on. 😞 I'll be in touch in a few days to let you know how Cooperstown and NY is. I sure will miss this place...... 😊K
P.S. The sandwiches were ok but we like Full-o-Bull Cheese Steak sandwiches better. I also want to say Happy birthday to Sue (5th) & Maggie (6th)

Sounds like fun!
You guys are having a great time! #16 we'll never be able to catch up now! The sandwich story sounds like the Seinfeld episode with the soup nazi and the line, " no soup for you". The boys did great dove hunting at the property! Miss you!! Karlie looks SOO big!
