July 12, 2013 Fun day today! Got up and headed to Seaside, a small, popular town about 20 miles from here. Walked around and enjoyed seeing where Lewis and Clark finished up their trek with a statue right on the beach. Checked out the little shops and then headed for Cannon Beach and Mo’s, a favorite seafood place we love – only in the NW. Salmon for Marge, shrimp for Will. Then we walked on the beach and took pictures of THE HAYSTACK, the big one. Tried to get pictures of the Puffins but they flew too high. They come once a year and land on the haystack, burrow a hole and lay their eggs; right about now, the eggs should be hatching. Wish we could have been closer to see.
Then to a Farmer’s Market in Manzanita – lots of fruit for sale – hope we can eat all we bought!
A beautiful, 68 degree day. Our warmest yet.

Of Haystacks and Deer Butts
You two always find such interesting things to photograph! I never know what to expect, besides the requisite lovely landscapes, of course.
