Brian and I left Chicago with a different feeling in our stomachs…Cleveland would be the last stop on our whirlwind tour of the US, and while we were happy that we’d be home to see our friends and family again, we couldn’t help but be a little sad too. We arrived in Cleveland after about 6 hours of monotonous driving, and after hastily parking the car, we hurried off to the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame. It was close to 7 o’clock when we entered and we knew we were pushing it for time since the museum would be closing at 9. Our time within the museum, however, was well spent, and we weren’t disappointed. Everything from on-stage outfits of the Jackson 5, to sheets of notebook paper scrawled with the original lyrics of ... read more

Say, friend... are you looking for the entrepeneurial opportunity of a lifetime? Well, look no further than the wonderland city of the state that's TALL in the middle and ROUND on both ends: Cleveland! What offer is so good that even a fool can't pass it up, you ask? Step right up, folks, 'cuz all you have to do to strike it rich here in this, the crown jewel of the Buckeye State, is: Open a restaurant. Granted, there would be a lot of capital invested in educating the masses as to what such a thing is, but once the locals catch on, boy... look out. Watch the dough roll its way on in to your greedy little hands and laugh yourself silly all the way to the bank. I figured I'd drive around for a ... read more

I was done with my work and back at the hotel by 11:30 this morning, so I decided to do some sightseeing. *Sigh* The city is devoid of anything interesting. I drove into downtown just in time for the worst thunderstorm I have ever seen to hit. The rain was so heavy, people were pulling off the highway to wait it out. Visibility was about 50 feet and those who were able stayed on the highway and crawled along. I must say that at least this area boasts some pretty good drivers. No one goes over the speed limit, nobody tailgates and they even keep a good distance behind, so there were no problems. I drove by Jacobs Field and Cleveland Browns Stadium, but those were the dull highlights. There was nothing worth seeing. And ... read more

Untitled We finished up our adventure in NY by going to visit Liz's parents in Buffalo. They were really sweet, we had lunch there, swam in their pool, and generally had a relaxing day. We left Buffalo at about 6pm to drive to McKean, PA. We drove the 2 hours...and arrived at the middle of small town America. As soon as we pulled into town, we stopped to fill up on gas. Lindsey and I looked at each other and both had the same thought. If we wanted to back out of this one and just keep going, that would be alright. We decided to stick it out and keep on schedule. We drove past the McKean Tavern which was coined The Best Place in Town, I'm curious if it was named that because of the ... read more

Here on the banks of the Cuyahoga River is the gem of Ohio -- Cleveland. Hot, muggy, hazy... well worth the trip. I don't have a direct flight anywhere this week, which means for each place I go I have to take two flights. Both plane rides here were uneventful and short. Neither was over an hour in the air and I've had nothing but good experiences flying Southwest, which the is airline I'm using for this sojurn. When I arrived I grabbed a rental car and never bothered to read the map to know where I was going (why would I?), so after wandering aimlessly for about an hour, I finally wound up at the hotel -- which is a nice Holiday Inn. Tomorrow I'm off to visit our facility by spending a few hours ... read more

The moment I received my acceptance packet and program passport into what is going to be the most amazing experience of my life I have been waiting and anticipating the moment that I will take my first step in Rome. I still have 15 days until I leave, and I am trying to wait patiently but it is hard. I am still trying to read and research as much as I can before I leave so I am fully embrace every new experience. Packing has been the hardest part of the whole process. What do I take, what am I not allowed to take? I think that I have pretty much narrowed it down, but I will not know for sure until I have fit everything I am going to take into the two suitcases. Hopefully ... read more
