I've been up to all sorts of fun the past couple weeks but haven't really accomplished much in the way of home improvements in my week away from work. Oh well...summer's coming! Enjoy the pics, Mary... read more

Enjoy the pics of my school and kitchen, and a story that could only ever happen to me. Let me preface it by saying that I'm fine and that I was never really in any physical danger. Joe Friday does the voiceover.....: "This is the city. Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Mary works here... she's an SLP. It was Monday, March 19. It was a clear night in Winston-Salem. She had stopped by CVS after a short visit with her friends, Linda and Herb." "The story you are about to read is true. Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent." It all started around 8pm. I had just taken a shower and needed to run to the grocery so I had food to eat for the rest of the week. There's a grocery just at ... read more

Ah, Super Bowl Sunday. I've really done very little to know what's going on with the whole thing. I talked to my friend Allyn today and she, very helpfully, informed me as to who as actually playing in the game. She also went so far as to tell me where the teams were from as I really had no clue on the Colts (Indianapolis, Indiana). I probably could have figured out the Bears if I were to have been given a multiple choice response type question (Which major US city is home to the Bears? A) Wichita, B) Albuquerque, C) Chicago, D) Bangor. I'm pretty sure it's C.) I definitely did better with getting involved with Eurovision and the World Cup. I was in Naples, Italy when Italy won the World Cup defeating France 5-3 in ... read more

I've been busy lately working on my house so I thought I'd share some photos of what it looked like before and now. The next major project on my list to tackle is the kitchen (as you can probably tell by the pics). Other than that, not much is going on with me. I'm at my second placement for work this year filling in for a maternity leave at an elementary school and a middle school. The other SLP, Allyn, and I have been having a good time working together. On top of sharing a trailer, we see a couple of groups together in the classroom. The other day, one of our kids was attempting to sing along to Old MacDonald--loudly and off-key--but he was having a blast! Even the other kids were amused by the ... read more

Not a whole lot going on in my life at the moment, except of course for all the stuff I've always got going on--work, school, and buying a house. This week I had a break from school work and loved every minute of it. On Thursday, I went to meet the therapists who work at my next place. I haven't heard yet whether the therapist that I'll be filling in for has had her baby yet, but she was due on Friday. Her birthday was Saturday so she was hoping that the baby would be born then. As I pulled up to the school I was a bit worried, but it turns out that the whole thing was just a misunderstanding. I walked into the school with no problems, but did have to pass a group ... read more

Yeah... I loved North Carolina too! Since I was the President of the Theta Rho Assembly of California I got to go there for a week and attend meetings (only for the weekend, the rest of the time I was free to do whatever I wanted :) ) Anyway... so yup, I was representing California. This city was all about art and jazz! Everyone was so friendly. "Good mornin' to ya ma'am!" *tips hat* Oh how I loved it. I didn't see any tagging on the walls either. Oh and just near the hotel I counted at least 21 churches haha. I discovered the BEST place ever for pizza... it was called Mellow Musroom... makes you drool... I sware! They seriously need to get one over here on the east coast... I wouldn't care how far ... read more

We all had a good time at the going away party that Lilita organized for me. My only wish that I hadn’t twisted my left ankle. Will I be ready in time to go down the Grand Canyon? Anyway, we celebrated John’s bday, the guy in black and on the far right, after many people have left. Regina, John’s wife, is next to me and then Lilita and JP. Patrica and her beau flanking my right. In 4 more days, I will be leaving this town to start my cross country trip from the outer banks. The people that come into your life can be grouped into 2 categories: those you keep and those you don’t. Friends are the people you keep and they keep you. Those that don’t are just acquaintances.... read more
