Hiking at Lake Norman State Park. Trying to keep up with an 88 year old on a 3.5 mile hike should not have been difficult. Hopefully I have inherited the same generics. Hills. Water views. Assorted trees. Funky mushrooms. Made good time? Uncle Wayne says we were 20 minutes slower than his regular hike. My excuse was I was taking pictures. Next adventure Southern Distillery Company.. Tasting session. Learned the process for making bourbon. Dinner with family at the lake. Lots of laughs One game of chess on Joan's chess board with the pieces she carved. ... read more

We started the day back at the lake. Kasie and Lori out in the kayak. Sriracha and Pedro out on pontoon with Wayne. We then went to the vineyard for our special tour. The Daveste' Vineyards with uncle Wayne as the guide. Lessons on pruning. Tour of the bottle room. Samples of wine. Relaxing at the waterfall. Back to the lake. We headed to cousin Scott's. Another afternoon on the lake. Round and round with the kids and Pedro in tow. Another beautiful day. Steaks and sweet corn on the deck for dinner. ... read more

Wonderful day in North Carolina on Lake Norman. Flew in on a direct flight from Madison to Charlotte, North Carolina. Everything on time and no issues. Picked up our bags and headed to the car rental area. Had put in a reservation for one of the big name places. Filled in the paperwork and then went to "pick out the car". Had a whole bunch lined up in one section. The problem with traveling with 4 is now there are 4 opinions. We all had a different idea on which car would be best. Tried to take a vote on 2 and of course, that was a tie. Finally it was decided that Pedro, the driver, would pick.... read more

Yoo-Hoo....time to get up and get going for travel day #2. Cory has the engine all reved up and he's ready to go. Lulu beat us all to the RV. Sometimes she gets a bit pushy. No one is going to take her spot in the RV but she worries. Settle yourself down, kiddo. Weather is improving. Took my babushka off. Actually, the sun came out and we all donned our sunglasses. Woweee. ???Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happySunshine in my eyes can make me crySunshine on the water looks so lovelySunshine almost always makes me high. ??? Not much excitement today.....just highway driving. Nothing to see, nothing to do. First rest area stop was super crowded. It was ... read more

Up and at 'em (Adam) everyone as we depart for travel day #2. Left Motel 6 at 8:30 AM. They had their light turned off! Cloudy and 39 Degrees. Brrrrrr.......we aren't used to this cold weather. Of course, today we didn't layer up like yesterday (fools that we are) so a tad chilly in the RV. Front heater seems to take the chill off okay. Happy Birthday to our wonderful daughter, Lory. We remember, 51 years ago, traveling through a blizzard snow storm in Buffalo to eventually get to Kenmore Mercy Hospital. She took awhile arriving but finally after 11:00 PM she entered this world. We were overjoyed and so proud of our firstborn, newborn, daughter. And to this day, we have the very same feelings. ?? Happy Birthday To You, Dear Lory ??. We love ... read more

Good Morning, Everyone! Our 3rd day on the road and so far so good (I'm knocking on all the wood I can find inside this moving van"). Hey! Whaz up? No more sunshine! Traveling into Charlotte, N.C. We are freezing. It's 42 degrees and light rain today. Heater on, long pants on, long sleeve shirts on, coats on - good grief. We are sliding back into reality. Lulu is grateful she can only get a head freeze. Will there be snow on our horizon? Please, noooooo. We spent last night behind a Cracker Barrel restaurant.....on route 26 below Columbia, SC. somewhere. It started raining hard mid afternoon so it was time to stop. No campground close by. It was earlier than planned for our stop but safer. We were tired anyway. Love those Cracker Barrels: good ... read more
