Good Morning, Everyone! Our 3rd day on the road and so far so good (I'm knocking on all the wood I can find inside this moving van"). Hey! Whaz up? No more sunshine! Traveling into Charlotte, N.C. We are freezing. It's 42 degrees and light rain today. Heater on, long pants on, long sleeve shirts on, coats on - good grief. We are sliding back into reality. Lulu is grateful she can only get a head freeze. Will there be snow on our horizon? Please, noooooo.
We spent last night behind a Cracker Barrel restaurant.....on route 26 below Columbia, SC. somewhere. It started raining hard mid afternoon so it was time to stop. No campground close by. It was earlier than planned for our stop but safer. We were tired anyway. Love those Cracker Barrels: good food and good shopping. I got the pecan crusted catfish- highly recommend it. No room for the "to die for" chocolate cocoa cola cake that we often dream and drool about. We should just order that cause it is a crime not to enjoy this scrumptious delicacy. You must try it......no and's, if's or but's....you will thank me for life!
I hope you
were finally able to see my " Breakdown" video after several failed attempts on my part. My blog site used to just let me load it easily...not anymore. Now I have to put it on YouTube or Vimeo first, then copy the URL to my blog site. I thought I had it loaded on Vimeo but come to find out, I didn't have enough "room" there cause I have my Brimfield video there. I didn't want to buy more space. So then I used YouTube. I have more videos to show you so hopefully they will show up in my blogs over the next few days. If not, just be patient. The anticipation is building, I know. You have to excuse my endless monotone, dull drone and deep throaty drawl as I walked (talked) you through our unplanned and unwanted experience. It was a challenge to hold my Ipad steady, think of what I was trying to say and speak, all at the same time. All while under tremendous stress and pressure....remember that. I used to be very good at multi-tasking.....not so much anymore. With time, I think I can improve upon my narration. Better quality with better circumstances. Be
patient, kind folks. I tried to interview Ernest T. ( tow man) but he was uncooperative.....too bad - he probably couldn't speak clearly with his discolored gums & that monster chew of yucky tobaccy in his mouth, anyway. Ewwwe!
Our plan of the day is to go to a KOA campground in Statesville, NC. From here, we will be able to visit our son, Cory. We had thought about staying at a campground closer to Hickory/Conover (where he lives) but since we had our unexpected delay and he is on a business trip until late tomorrow, we decided our stay will be shortened. It will be easier for us with the RV to stay right off this Route 77. It will take only @ 1/2 hour to travel back and forth to see him. We have stayed here before. One thing you learn fast as an RVer.....you have to be flexible! Just take things as they come but pay attention to what's ahead. Next on the agenda will be to find free Wi-Fi somewhere.....McDonald's, Starbucks? I've been gobbling up our data like a starving varmint. I had been using "Notes" to write by blog before I do a copy/
paste to my Internet blog site. I recently switched to "Word" to use instead. Now I realize that I was using up our data on it. Yikes. Rats! I'm back to " Notes" needless to say. One of major downfalls when it comes to using up our data is that both Cory & I are addicted to playing Big Fish Casino (thank you, Sandy Foreman). Remember the picture I posted showing Cory & Lulu standing in our RV entrance way.......during the major crisis breakdown while parked on the horrible highway: I-75? It showed Cory working on his phone: playing Big Fish!!! Priorities, you know.
Noon time: we have landed at the Statesville, N.C. KOA Campground. Kind of took the wrong exit getting here but after a nice ride through the residential section of Troutman, N.C. (pretty, little brick homes), we wound our way over to where we wanted to go: here! Not crowded.....just a few stragglers like ourselves. We are in for the night and a couple days anyway. Furnace is on so it's nice and toasty for you all during this interlude.Enjoy!
Wishing our dear friend, Sandy Foreman, a very Happy Birthday. I plead with her to let me take her to a carnival. There is where we can have the barker try and guess her age. He will loose every time and we will win all the prizes. Split 50/50: my idea; her young, pretty looks.
