When we are off the boat, it seems that the blog gets forgotten. Guess it is because we figure we are doing just “daily life” type things when back at the house and the more interesting things to share are when we are on the boat. Decided to just do a quick update since the last posting as it also helps us with figuring out “what have we done with all this time?” We actually will be leaving in a couple of days to return to Tsamaya which is waiting for us in Turkey. The plan is to leave the eastern Med and start our travels westward. The plan currently is to travel to Rhodes as there is a lot of history there to absorb, then on to Crete to learn more there. After that we ... read more

Where has the time gone?? It is hard to believe that we have been back in the US three months already and now seriously looking over the list of things we need to buy to take back to Tsamaya in the Spring. Just thought I’d try to catch you up on a few of our activities – nothing too exciting as far as it goes for travel photos, but definitely have been enjoying some time with family and friends. First on our agenda was returning our rental car that we used to drive from NYC to Greenwich when we flew back. We took it back the next day and we decided that as long as we were down in an area that had a very good Thai restaurant we would take advantage of it and enjoyed ... read more

Where do I start? How do you cover the amount of time we have been back in the US? Yes, we left Tsamaya in Turkey and flew back to the US on October 29, 2019. Yes, it is now July 2021 and we are still here. This is definitely not what was planned, but that seems to be the rule for all due to the outbreak of covid. To start, when we first arrived back in the US, we found that we were definitely not too late to participate in the annual ritual of raking leaves. That was one of the first tasks we did as we are fortunate that our Village picks up the leaves each year if you get them out to road in time. This is so much better than bagging them all! ... read more

We had finally made our plane reservations to return to Tunisia and get back onboard Tsamaya. Now we had the deadline of April 15th to have everything done that we wanted to (now how did we think that would ever be possible?) or at least to prioritize what “had to get done” before leaving. One thing for sure was to make a trip out to our old stomping grounds to see friends. We had hoped to do it earlier but something always came up. We pulled a trip together quickly even if it was a shorter trip than we would have liked. We squeezed in as many people as we could see into the short time we were out in the Trumansburg area and we apologize to those that we didn’t make contact with this time. ... read more

Nov 6, 2018 – March 9, 2019 I know it has been some time since I updated on what we have been doing since being back in the US but time seems to have been flying by. Now that our daylight is starting to get longer each day and the temperatures are rising (not on all days, but some) we are realizing that our time back here is getting shorter. This is causing us to start looking at places to go in the Mediterranean this year, check our list of things that we wanted to buy to take back to Tsamaya and prioritize what needs to get done before flying back to Tunisia. November was full of activity – We had a wonderful but short visit with friends Kay and Dan – thanks for taking the ... read more

Being back in the US for the month of October it has allowed us to get more done around the house and keep our promise to ourselves to take advantage of some of the live music that we have available in the area. We also had the bonus of getting together with some family members, hooked up again with a few cruising friends we have met over the years and I have also had a chance to get in touch with a few more friends that I had back in High School from “just a few years ago”. Before we had left the boat, Bob already knew that he wanted to get to the Annapolis Sailboat Show so already had our tickets and reservations at an AirBnB. It was a quick trip as we left on ... read more

We stayed another week in Monastir after our two day trips which gave us time to work on packing to head back to the US and get the boat ready to leave. We did make it to the market for one last time this season, but it was more for the atmosphere than it was for buying as we were actually working on getting rid of food on Tsamaya. The last time we went to the market Bob even stopped to look at the clothes which is definitely unusual for him. We found a shirt that time for him so figured we’d check again this week – no such luck, but still fun to go to see what is in season food-wise and check out the numerous items on sale as they also have a flea ... read more

For those of you that are on facebook with me know that we are currently back in the US and have been here since the middle of November. For those of you that only follow us on our blog, you may have been having a hard time figuring where we are based on my sporadic blog postings. As a result this blog will bring you up to where we are currently with the promise that I will continue to put up “old” postings in order to complete our journal and fill you in on some more of the interesting places we have been. Our winter spot for Tsamaya is Gaeta, Italy which is located on the west coast of the country between Rome and Naples. We had arrived there in the beginning of October so had ... read more

Our last few weeks at home in the US we did quite a bit of socializing as well as working on the house. The big accomplishment was getting the heating system installed in the ground floor rooms of the house – that was one we really wanted to get done before leaving for Paris. Bob hates to do trim work, but he got this done in the downstairs bathroom as well (and it looks great if I do say so myself). Only thing is now I will have the project of putting a finish on the trim when we get back to the US next time. Bob says he will put on the trim, but I have to finish – guess that is fair. As for socializing – we made a very quick trip out to ... read more

Spending winter back in the US? Yes, some thought we were crazy to come back to upstate NY in the winter, but a few things dictate that decision. One is the weather of course, not so much for when we are in the US, but the best times to be on the boat and moving! Yes, we enjoyed our 6 weeks in Paris and could definitely use more time to explore, but we want to travel through the French canals to the Med and need to wait for the spring and summer for that. We also want to spend time with family over the holidays and see some friends while in the US. Now that we own a house back in the US we have quite a few projects to complete on the list and winter ... read more
