We were not in Santa Fe when the WildEarth Guardians Gala happened but we were going to be in town when the Tree Huggers Bash happened in Albuquerque. We volunteered to come help with setting up and taking down and made plans to spend the night at our favorite place to stay in Albuquerque, the Route 66 Hostel.

Decided to catch the later train so we could go to our exercise class and then eat before we hopped aboard! Great class, parked the car so we could catch the bus downtown and then to Zia Diner for a bite to eat.

The train ride as always was very interesting and relaxing. Got to Albuquerque and found the bus stop and headed to the hostel. Transportation services in Abq have it where you can use your train ticket for the rest of the day as your bus pass! Nice. They do the same in Santa Fe as well.

Got ourselves checked into the hostel, took a short rest and then headed over to the Grove for the Bash. Helped set out the items for the silent auction (checking out what we wanted!) and did other things as well.

We both bid on items, Laura a wonderful piece of bling and Robert two prize winning pecan pies. The food was delicious as usual, wine and beer flowing and the talk by Jeremy about fracking out West was a reminder of why we need to remain active with this organization.

After the fundraising game, music and general conversation things started winding down. Laura got her bling, Robert his pecan pies. Neat story about the pies, Madeline, one of the interns for Guardians entered this recipe in the pie contest at the New Mexico State Fair and won first place! Will arrange to have them made when we head for Texas to share with family.

Helped break things down after the gala and then caught the bus back to the Launchpad where we watched the music and antics of the people inside from the bar. Back to the hostel and left on the morning train.
