Erika’s kids wanted to see M&M factory but wasn’t one just a massive store with consumerism at its most disgusting. Basically there was nothing you couldn’t buy without M&Ms on it i.e. calculators. Rows and rows of different colour dispensers. The kids spend forever in there and all I wanted to do was go to the titanic/bodies exhibit and head up to Circus Circus and do the things I had picked out so we’d have time for shopping tomorrow. As it turned out her kids wanted to go to ride the roller coaster at New York New York, when Bobby wanting to go the one at Stratosphere which was a long way north of the strip. So as usual Brendan couldn’t say no and just head straight for the Luxor for the exhibitions. Our compromise was doing what she wanted. Anyway we ended up going on the ride and I thought I was going to die. I have never been on one before and not likely to again. I could hardly get out of my seat and I couldn’t stop shaking for half an hour afterwards. It was going to be too much hassle to go back to the hotel for
lunch so we ate at a 1950s diner and had pizza. The pizza slices are only about $5, are the size of half a pizza at home and the sizes of the pop are milkshake sizes and refillable! Lleyton and I went to see the Bodies exhibit which was brilliantly fascinating. Basically, it was dead bodies exposed in a multitude of ways. From the skin and muscle peeled back to the whole body being dissolved leaving nothing left except the blood vessels. There was also all different foetuses in different stages of development. We waited in the lobby of the Luxor for Brendan and Bobby for ages. Brendan said Bobby loved it and he thanked us so much for taking him there. Bobby couldn’t stop raving about it for days afterwards. I felt disappointed that I didn’t see it now. I thought it was going to be the same as the one in the Freo Maritime museum. But this is Vegas and I couldn’t have been more wrong. Freo didn’t have a fake cold iceburg and a replica grand stair case and chunks of the actual Titanic etc.
We got the free trains that span some of the casinos
and made out way back to the free shuttle bus back to the hotel. We would’ve saved a lot of time by staying on the strip but then again it was a lot cheaper than being off the strip. Our hotel was very nice and it cost $36/night! We got off the train and walked back Via the Bellagio which was real eye opener being one of the most expensive casinos on the strip. After gawking at all the expensive shops, including a very expensive shop that sold exquisitely decorated cakes, (this being an understatement – one could imaging rich sheiks or Hollywood stars getting cakes from here) we couldn’t resist the temptation to get a proper Italian gelato ice cream. I got a pistachio and I don’t remember one tasting so good since mum and dad bought a rare treat for us in Italy in 1980. The whole place simply has to be seen to be believed. When we got back I could not go on any longer through tiredness and had a nap while Brendan and Erika took the kids to the pool. After that it was getting late and we’d still not had dinner, so we went
to the food hall. I wanted the buffet that had a great wrap, but it closed in 5 minutes, so was pissed off that I had to go with a burger. It was a massively thick burger served with fries and I thought I was going to have a heart attack.
After the kids unbelievable still had energy so they wanted to go bowling that was in the casino 24 hours a day. There was a staggering 70 or so lanes and only cost $6 for 2 games and $3 shoe hire. I think I paid nearly $30 bucks to take the kids in Albany once!
There was a snack bar there, a proper bar and of course sock vending machine! It was 11.30pm before we got to bed.
