finally made it to vegas after we almost missed our flight due to the shuttle bus driver getting lost trying to find other pickups - elise was well stressed !!!!

this place is completely crazy - we're staying at the stratosphere at the end of the strip so major walking going on trapsing up and down to see all the hotels - we've hopefully burned off a few pounds from the last 6 weeks - and accumulated quite a few blisters
our favourite hotels are new york, paris, venetian and bellagio - not really into the whole gambling thing - we've dappled but haven't really got a clue what's going on. We worked out some scams to get free beer though - put $20 in a machine on the bar, order your drinks, barman gives them to you free cause you've put $20 in, play a couple of 25cent goes, then press Cash Out and then go claim your $19 back - easy !!! carl has also been seen stalking the trolly-dollies who serve free drinks at the tables and slot machines - he sneaks onto a machine just as they're approaching and pretends he's playing - very sneaky, but it works
we've also indulged in the eat as much as you like buffets - oh lordy !!!! unbelieveable food for $10

and of course we did the all important grand canyon experience - got a helicopter flight over Hoover Dam and then down into the canyon for a champagne (or cheap fizzy stuff) lunch - just fabulous - it ranks up there number 1 with the whale watching although I think the whales are just out in front !
met a stag party on our helicopter trip who met Lemmy from motorhead in some strip joint who bought a lapdance for the stag - carl was very jealous (about meeting Lemmy of course - not the lapdance!!!) this place is full of hen and stag doos but you would seriously kill yourself on a stag/hen doo here - there's just too much on offer !!! there is no way carl is going on Chris "me Jooly"'s stag doo from west leeds rugby club - not after the things I've seen - quite surprised at how seedy and porno vegas actually is - didn't quite expect it to be so rampant !

the heat here is incredible - late 30s, early 40s. Death valley reached a record 115F ! - although elise has been getting goosebumps the minute she steps inside the air-conditioned hotels and whingeing that she's cold !!!! we got quite sunburnt after about an hour by the pool of the hotel. Went to the top of the stratosphere but didn't dare with the rides - one goes vertical from the top, one hangs over the side and the other dangles you over the edge and spins you around - not a chance!

had a fab time, was great to see it, but wouldn't say we'd rush back
anyway - next and final stop (boo hoo hoo) - SAN FRANCISCO

All you can eat for $10 ????
Obviously a non-profit making company after you did $10 worth of fodder. Dont know which looks more impressive, the canyon or the glow from FB's increasing forehead. I bet the helicopter struggled with the weight of 18st of English beef !! FO, H xxxxx
