House boating on Lake Meade, one hour from Las Vegas
Late in September, the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) met in Las Vegas for its annual convention. More than 600 travel writers and PR professionals attended, and the city opened its doors - and its casinos, its theaters, its restaurants and shops - to us. When it came time for tours, some of us headed for the backstage and culinary or shopping tours, while others wanted to relax in a serene setting far away from the blackjack and slots. A group of us went house boating on Lake Meade - a beautiful spot about one hour from town - where sailed for a while, picnicked on shore and sailed some more. The pictures show it best.
