Strip by day
This was taken from the top of the Eiffel Tower. Yes I know- we have been back for weeks...but this travelblog would not be complete without the final chapter of our trip- Viva Las Vegas! It was the perfect ending to our North American Adventure- thanks Hicks for the suggestion!
We flew into Vegas late Saturday night. As the airport is not far from the Las Vegas strip we could see the light emanating from the many hotels and casinos as the plane descended. It was quite amazing. How much electricity do all these places use were our initial thoughts!!
Sunday we began our exploration of “the strip”. I don’t think we were quite prepared for what we saw. A half size replica of the Eiffel Tower was our first port of call. From the top we could see the whole strip and beyond into the Nevada dessert. From here we moved between looking at gondolas go by in Venice (at the Venetian Hotel), to seeing lions (at the MGM Grand) to watching Greek Gods (at Caesars’ Palace). Of course we partook in some gambling at each establishment as you do! We managed to survive the 38 degree heat and explored downtown Vegas that night. The “Freemont Street

It is amazing what they can recreate in Vegas! Experience” as it is named is just that. An experience! We found ourselves in another small strip of Casino’s (The Golden Nugget, Four Queens, etc.). The difference here being the strip was undercover, and it wasn’t just any old roof. It was indeed the biggest TV screen in the world, complemented by one of the biggest sound systems in the world. Every half an hour from 8pm a five minute TV/light/sound show would play. It was amazing- all the bleary and bright casino lights would go off and the long roof /TV would light up and begin. We stayed for a few different shows and in between checked out the different casinos and managed to drink beer from a football (for $8 it had to be done!).
Monday morning we continued our casino hopping, catching the monorail to the downtown end of the strip. We played the pokies while watching acrobatics above us at Circus Circus and had a look at the Star Trek themed Hilton Hotel! After a well deserved swim at our hotel in the afternoon we dressed up and headed out for a night on the town! First stop was the hotel New York New York
Venice
From one European city to another... And this was taken inside the hotel on the second floor. Crazy we know! for a ride on their thrilling rollercoaster. I was shitting myself as we queued and for good reason! There was an initial massive drop followed by a loop de loop and a cork screw manoeuvre! Talk about scary, I screamed my was through as Mark continued to laugh at me!
Next stop was the bar Coyote Ugly. Our free entry helped ease the pain of $8 (plus compulsory tip) beers but my dancing on the bar with the Coyote Ugly girls among other randoms was indeed priceless! There were even older ladies (probably in their 60s) who were up their shaking some booty on the bar, it was quite hilarious! Unfortunately the price of beer eventually forced us to leave!
Tuesday we explored the last of the casinos we had not yet explored including Luxor (shaped like a pyramid) and Excalibur (shaped like a medieval castle)! We also booked ourselves into see the traditional Las Vegas show girls for that evening which would be our last night in Vegas. Usually the show girls perform 2 shows per evening- one covered show and one topless. Unfortunately there was no covered show that night and to Mark’s extreme disappointment we
Strip by night
This is outside the MGM Grand. We were constantly dazzled by all the lights! had to go and see the topless show! I was initially aghast at the idea, thinking I would be the only girl in the room. I could not have been more wrong! There were women galore in the audience, even old ladies were there watching! The show was full of things that one wanted from Las Vegas dancing girls- feathered costumes galore, girls swinging out over the audience, girls coming down from the ceiling in big gold seats and of course breasts! They weren’t topless for the whole show, but when they were we could not help to play “are they real, or are they fake” game!
After the show we went down the strip to check out the famous fountain shows at The Bellagio. It was just amazing the way they could make the water almost dance to the music. When the song climaxed so did the fountains. It was just beautiful. And what better way to enjoy it than with a strawberry daiquiri sipped from a plastic Eiffel Tower! It was a great last night in Vegas!
Before flying back to Los Angeles Wednesday lunchtime we were able to enjoy yet another buffet with Marks aunt
Ceasers' Palace
Here we were surrounded by Greek Gods who move and talk to each other every hour on the hour! Jill who was also in Vegas. We stuffed ourselves silly (for $6.99- what value!), played the pokies with Jill and then headed for the airport (with our masses of luggage) to catch our flight back home. If anyone is thinking of going the USA or North America, Vegas is just one of those things you have to do once in a lifetime! Until the next adventure,

Las Vegas trip
Glad to hear you had a great time in Las Vegas. We went and saw "O" last week and it was the most beautiful show I have ever seen in Las Vegas. Bought tickets online from http://www.vegasbookmarks.com and saw the show that evening. Highly recommended Mary
