Started our day in Paris, then went to Venice, New York and back to Venice for dinner and a show, then back to Paris!
Breakfast in a Paris cafe this morning, then we braved the heat to see some more of the strip. Bruce (bus driver from the Rockies) had told us about the Deuce Bus, a double decker, air conditioned, bus service that runs up and down the strip (Las Vegas Boulevard) 24/7, only $8 for a 24 hour pass, so bought our passes and got on a north bound bus, right in front of our hotel. Only rode two stops, but was a lot further than it looked on the map, so pleased we didn't walk. Got off at The Venetian. Another wow! The outside has canals, complete with gondolas and many other famous Venice landmarks, Doges Palace, Bridge of Sighs, St Marks tower and the Rialto Bridge!
Inside, through the huge gaming area we found The Sands Showroom, and picked up our tickets for tonight, then eventually found the Grand Canal shops (and a gelato shop, but resisted the gelato burger??). This was really beautiful, indoors but still with a canal, gondolas, shops, bridges and the sky. Had
to cross the road to get the Deuce bus the other way, could see Treasure Island from the overpass decided it didn't warrant further inspection, so walked along the outside of The Mirage (which has a volcano), then caught the bus back to the hotel, bought lunch at the chemist, and back to the room for a break from the heat.
Later, we caught the south bound bus to the New York New York hotel. It has a replica Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge and NYC skyline, including the Empire State Building. Seemed more impressive from the outside, the inside had New York themed shops and cafes and a roller coaster that goes through the (standard) huge gaming area and then outside. Back on the bus to the hotel.
Decided we needed to have one flutter on the poker machines while we were here, last of the big spenders, it took me 3 minutes to lose my $2 (Trina's lasted a little longer).
Still hot by the time we got back on rhe bus to go back to The Venetian for dinner at Cafe Grand Lux, which we had checked out earlier. Menu was as good as it looked, meals
were very nice, but huge. The Sands Showroom for the Human Nature Jukebox show was next (yes, we saw an Aussie group in Las Vegas). Bought our sparkling wine - came in a can, that was a first, and found our seats for the show. It was great, had forgotten what good singers they were, and the energy was amazing. (Pleased we had centre seats for this show, audience participation was required from some people in aisle seats!)
Back out into the heat to get the bus back to the hotel where we ignored the bags that needed to be packed because it's unfortunately time to go home tomorrow.
