Today is June 11, 2006. We've been at Glacier National Park in Northwest Montana for the last week or so. It's hard to beat Glacier for rugged beauty. This morning it's raining but we splurged and spent the last 2 nights at the Glacier Park Lodge on the east side of the park. We had a little excitement yesterday when we ran across a bear on one of our hikes. He was a cinnamon colored black bear about 30 feet from us... I think we kinda surprised him which you don't want to do but he scampered off and we continued on. Tommorow we head back to Yellowstone to meet up with Beckie and Gary to do a little trout fishing. ... read more

We have packed up our belongings and are on the road. We stayed a night in Premier Lake Provincial Park and saw wild turtles! From there we drove to the border but we got rejected. They wouldn't let the car through without proof that it was going back into canada. We could not prove it and we were sad. However, we travelled around to the next border crossing and tried again and got through with no hassles... We have spent the last few nights camping in Glacier National Park. We have went on some hikes and seen some wicked scenery. We have make lots of noise when we walk (talk, clap, sing, yell, whistle, etc) so we don't surprise any grizzlys. It feels very strange to be walking in nature and to be making such a ... read more

: "Experience is not what happens to you, it is what you do with what happens to you." --Aldous Huxley August 19, 2005, Friday. We were back in the lower “48” before 9am. It has been two months since we boarded the ferry for Alaska—80 days on the road!! It has been an incredible adventure, but I’m looking forward to going home. We drove the “Going to the Sun Road” it was breathtaking. Our vehicle just made the allotted 21’ or less rule. We stopped at Logan Pass and saw a group of mountain goats. There was some construction on this narrow mountain road, but the views were magnificent and the day crystal clear. I was glad Bob was driving. August 20, 2005, Saturday. Fish Creek campground has no hook-up (electricity) and no showers. We hiked ... read more

What a great week it has been. We left Denver and headed to Teton National Park where we spent a day putzing around, picking up some forgotten items and looking for a place for Bret to photograph sunset. Instead of staying in the Tetons we headed to Yellowstone. We camped just outside the park at a great campground that was FREE. We hope to remember it in the future. It was set aside a braided river which was beautiful and wonderful mountains in the backdrop. The next morning we left the campground and headed through the park to the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. We hung out there for an hour photographing grizzly bears. Nice facility but not enough room for the bears to roam, I don't think. We then went back into the park, drove ... read more
