Am in St. Paul, MN. Last night, I went to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert. That was amazing! Talk about a rock opera. There's just no other way to describe it. They never took a break and it ended up being a 3 hour show. Such incredible voices, deep, rich voices by those who sung. And then there was the music. Amazing musicians of electric guitar, piano, organ, violin, all combined for this loud, upbeat show coupled with an amazing light show. Can't say enough about it. It was their last show for this tour and I don't believe they start touring again until early winter 2007. Wasn't able to take pictures so have nothing to upload right now. I will definitely be back to see them again next year. Yesterday morning, I left Fargo, ND and ... read more

Ok, yes yes yes. I havent done a blog entry for ages. After all the excitement of the blogs in California i'm sure you were all expectring the fireworks and the such to continue right back till blighty. Well, as it worked out on 24th November i flew 2 Frontier airlines flights from San Fransisco - Denver - Minneapolis. Respectively these were with Larry the Leopard and Foxy the Fox (all the Frontier airline planes are mascoted by animals. As you can see the brainstormers ran out of ideas when naming the fox plane - just a bit). So what have i been up to since arrival in this part of the worls and why on earth did i go there. Well, those with good memories will remember Laurel from earlier blogs from our heady days ... read more

Grandma, we are here! It was a big surprise for Grandma and seeing the look at her face was priceless. Grandma is 97 and looking great. She has 10 sons, 25 grandchildren and growing number of great-grandchildren. It was fun to hear her talked about old times. Chris showed me his hometown and we saw more relatives. We had George's pizza which was great - thanks Barb! We also got a whole apple pie. At 10 pm, we started driving to Rockford, IL. That was another 5 hour drive and I was too tired to help with the driving so poor Chris had to do all the driving. ... read more

Had a really enjoyable day today. Last night I had a college reunion which was a lot of fun. I lived in Minneapolis for about a year over 10 years ago now, and the area has changed much since I lived here. Decided today to go see some of the sites and refresh my memory. Didn't have a lot of time because of other commitments but wanted to see some of the churches that I vaguely remembered from when I lived here. The day was a little cool but still no snow which was nice! First, drove over to St. Paul to take a look at St. Paul's Cathedral. St. Paul's sits on a hill near the Minnesota Capitol. It's apparently the highest point in St. Paul and it towers over everything with its massive dome. ... read more

Well, some time has passed since we last made an entry. We have been working our booties off! Putting in long days during the week to help us sustain our winter adventure plans. We have had some good time in between. Since our last entry, leaves have started to fall and our anticipation grows as our journey nears. We took a short weekend over Labor Day to Colorado to visit. We wish we had more time there to visit everybody, but time was short and we hope to be able to see more when we return from the adventure we have always dreamed about. We spent time with J's mom on Friday night. She picked us up from the airport and..boy..did she spoil us. Food galore, wine, breakfast in bed and a relaxing evening started ... read more

I'm going rural Nebraska. Hmmm.....rural Nebraska. Aside from travelling, I can't stop my personal geneology search either. This trip will take me to such exciting ports of call as Silver Creek, Davey, and Unadilla, Nebraska to photograph tombstones. Not because its October or because its a creepy/cool thing to do, but because I think I can get a lot of pieces to my puzzle by doing so. There are a lot of dates that I am missing and I am running out of people to ask. The resources I have are pretty extensive but time consuming to find and there is also a lot of question as to whether these are the correct matches etc. . I figure a gravestone doesn't lie (not usually anyway). I've located some of the cemeteries and start out to find ... read more
