Biking Petoskey Michigan’s Little Traverse Wheelway Trail Text and Photos last updated: 2017 Number of times on this trail: 4 Location: NW Michigan Distance: 42 km (26 miles Charlevoix to Harbor Springs) Distance markers: In Petosky Surface: asphalt and concrete Width: 3 metres plus Grade: Flat with a few hills Condition of trail: Very good Out of the 60 or so trails that we have biked, portions of The Little Traverse Wheelway, would rate somewhere in the top 10. The trail runs from Charlevoix around the bay through Petoskey and to Harbor Springs. It is paved and the width varies from wide to very wide! Geo: 45.3733, -84.9553Today we arrived in Michigan, and that completes my goal of visiting all of the contiguous states. Yay!!! Since we have already been to Alaska, the count is now 49. Hawaii, is the only one left. We shall see if it ever makes it onto my bucket list. So far, it has not. We left Oshkosh at 8:30 AM, 63 degrees and guess what…overcast skies, once again. We headed north. Rather than follow the plan Mapquest wanted us to follow and drive south through Chicago, we decided to see all of Michigan from top to bottom, so we took the scenic route and headed for the top of the lake. The drive began through more green cornfields and farmhouses and barns with lots of silos, and it hit me… we are in dairy country. ... read more

August 7-12: The congregation of the Methodist Church of Coleman, a town located in central Michigan, have been building a new sanctuary on their own, using the skills and abilities of their own members. What a great project! Since they were listed as a “drop in” site for NOMADS, I drove up there to help. I got a loving welcome with the keys to the church so I could come and go; an RV spot right next to the church complete with electricity and water. There was also a park right across the street that I could enjoy. I spent the week helping to hang wall board, taping, mudding and sanding. I got to work with a professional which helped me a lot.
