We were able to spend a few days with my best friend from high school, Diane. She and her husband have a farm in Upper Marlboro, Maryland and it was awesome. We were able to check out the chickens, goats, turkeys and genies. We spent one day in Baltimore Harbor and Fort McHenry. The fort was very interesting and it was amazing what the soldiers went through to save their city. One day we went kayaking up and down the river behind their house. It was fun just to paddle along and be in the peace and quiet of the river. It was great catching up with an old friend. Thanks Diane and David for the wonderful time and hospitality you showed us while we were there.... read more

Monday - Went to Mount Vernon, VA, home of George Washington. Toured the home and farm. Home was very interesting, it started out rather small, but by the time George had finished additions you have the Mount Vernon of today - see the pics. Met the neighbors tonight, Mike and Diane Alexander. Time to turn in for the night.... read more

OK...last day at work was yesterday and I feel fairly confident that I'm not leaving a big mess for LTC Boatman, Erv, and Nizelky. I have had the most wonderful news in regards to the trip. Russ Huard, a LtCol who used to work in my office, lives in Lakenheath, England and is going to come by Kirk Yetholm and act as tour guide for a couple of days! This negates the need to get a rental car and hopefully he'll let me practice driving. His cousin, Lisa, is visiting from the states and they are coming up Tue & Wed then heading on to the North of Scotland. They may meet up with us again in Edinburgh on our last day. Except for making sure that we have transportation and lodging, the prior planning for ... read more

First of all I guess I should have been putting the location of where I am right now, not where I plan to be next Monday. Guess I'll go back and change the previous entries. I am posting a couple of photos of my "altered suitcase" that I just completed. This is an idea that I've had for quite a while...well, ever since I started traveling quite often and noticed that the entire traveling population of the world had gone out and purchased the exact same luggage that I owned. I thought, "I love to craft. I love to alter objects. Why don't I alter my suitcase?" So I did. This first one is a trial...I'll see how it holds up before I do a really extensive 'alteration' on a better looking suitcase. This one is ... read more
