I have returned to US soil for almost 48 hours. I am still on the Mediterranean time...about 6 hours ahead. Dubrovnik and Venice, what a nice way to end our whirlwind trip to Europe. Dubrovnik is an old city, only newly discovered. Again like Greece, islands abound, mountains and beach...all majestic and stallwart. The orange-red roofs are a lasting memory and the bells bringing to light hours of the day. The wall cocoons the city and yet gives you a perspective of how small we are and how great we can be...and how we should treat our magnificent earth well. The beach is stony but we swam in the seas of Europe, Mediterranean, Agean, and Adriatic...cool, almost cold, but refreshing...and salty. I have never been so buoyant. The wine was tasty! Venice...the city of love! So ... read more

Jeff & Allison head out to the Ozarks for a week - August 3 - 10, 2008. See some mountains and lakes, go on a canoe trip on the Buffalo River, see a show or two in Branson. A little more laid back than the three-week whirlwind tour of England last year.... read more

Just getting last minutes details in place...supplies: toiletries, security info, house care, dog care, thirteen-year-olds' care, blog, cruisecritic membership, etc. We are thrilled to begin this adventure, yet there are soooo many details to consider (see above). We are beginning the journey with dropping off the said 13 year olds in Sea Isle City, NJ...Now there is an ocean port to visit....no cruise ships, but the longest, soft gray sand beaches, waves to ride, fudgiewudgies to eat, and after 5, the best-beer-taste of your choice...... read more

We decided to stay at Michelle and Paul's house with our granddaughters, Rachel, Renee and Anna. It was a well deserved rest after the long days' drive yesterday. The girls kept us busy, on the swings and then taking a walk. It was great for me, it was the first time we saw TV in 6 weeks and I got to see the Patriots beat Buffalo in the football game. Go Pats! We went to a Japanese Hibachi Grill for supper and had a chef prepare our food in a grill at our table. There was a huge fire and the whole thing was very entertaining. It was our first experience with this type of cooking and we really enjoyed it. We even ate with chop sticks. ... read more

We are getting spoiled with this hotel stuff. However, we have decided to head home because of Dave's leg. We don't want to take any chances and will have it checked as soon as possible. We decided to drive to my daughter, Michelle's house in Maryland - 665 miles away. It was a lot of driving, but we stopped every few hours so Dave could walk around a little. We left Lebanon, TN and arrived in Sykesville about 12 hours later. It was beautiful country here, green rolling hills and mountains on the horizons. We saw some jets flying into formations. Saw a lot of farm animals in the fields on the sides of the road. We went from TN to VA to WV and into MD. Just at dusk, we were passed by a group ... read more

Our coach picked us up at 9am, just in case there was traffic (we needed to be there by 11am for our 1pm flight). Traffic was light, and we were at the airport, checked in, and through security by 10:30am. Everything went very smoothly - but now for a long wait at the airport. But the airport was nice with lots of shops, so the time went fast. Our departure was delayed about 45 minutes because of a glitch with the entertainment system - you can watch on-demand movies or tv on a screen at each seat. So we arrived close to an hour late, but customs and getting our bags was easy. No horror stories to tell. We had a great time and saw amazing things, but we are glad to be back. I ... read more
