Maine!
Backwards selfie. Well, you get the idea. I finally reached the Quoddy Lighthouse in Lubec, Maine. The furthest eastern point of the US. Even that statement gets complicated in this peaceful, quiet, wooded state. Eastport and Lubec battle over who is the most eastern point. While Eastpoint is the furthest "town", Lubec is the furthest "city". Located on the most eastern point of the continental United States, West Quoddy Head Lighthouse is a stunning spot to see the first rays of sun in the country. This iconic red and white stripped pilar is located in Quoddy Head State Park, the original tower was built in 1808 under orders from President Thomas Jefferson. The lighthouse tower that stands today was built in 1858.
But wait, I am getting waaay ahead of myself! The drive through Maine to get to this point is well worth mentioning. My first goal was to reach Great Pond Navy Recreational Center for camping. The drive there was breathtaking the entire time. It took longer than anticipated because I kept stopping to take pictures and pick apples. Every road is lined with various apple trees in shades of reds, greens and yellows. The trees are busting full and the ground is littered with the

The sunrises and sunsets at this location were some of the best I've ever seen. The photos on this blog are from my phone. I captured some real breath takers on my Canon. over ripe apples that have fallen. My internal self is dying to make an apple crisp, apple sauce, apple pie.... For now I will just pick what I can eat.
There are an abundant of rolling hills, many trees that started out in full green. During the past week and a half of being in the state, I see maples turning red first. Those bursts of color are littered throughout the slowly changing greens that are now tipped with yellows and brown. My favorite change is the slight peach or coral tone as the yellow turns orange. Absolutely stunning! Those trees are very sporadic as most are still green. The trees are also making different sounds now. A slight rustle is coming on more and more as they leaves are drying out, no matter how much rain or dew is in the air. Each morning I wake up to leaves sticking to my tent with wet morning dew, I know I am getting closer to seeing the spectacular fall views of the northeast.
I spent 4 days and 3 nights in the Acadia National Park. I had never heard of it before but apparently is a very popular

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! However, I think this roadside décor is like the neighbor who never takes down their Christmas lights. Just a year round colorful sight. large park in this region. My first night was in the Schoodic area. I did a few hikes close to camp but was not overly impressed with this newly developed part of the park. The next morning I had reservations to drive the Cadillac Mountain top. My reservation was for 7:30 a.m. so the sun was up, a low layer of fog laid between the mountains, but the view was wide, far, and blue skies. My next two nights of camp was at Blackwood Campground. Many more driving loops, hiking trails and with that more people. I hiked to Bubble Rock, Jordan Pond, and Otter Creek. Really nice hikes, never more than a few miles each and climbing was a moderate level.
I then made it to both Eastport and Lubec Maine to make sure I reached the eastern point. The online weather forecast shows 1 more day of sunshine (today) then the rain comes in for a few days. I set up camp back at Great Pond with a rain fly, tarp, and lots of tie downs. Winds are picking up and I am planning on getting wet. Ahhh camping! You just settle into your chair with your
