Geo: 32.5146, -93.7473We were able to pull out of 9511 by 7am. I made one quick stop to fill up and have a potty break near Tyler, Texas. We arrived at Marian's house at 10:15.The conversations from then on out were quick and fast. We loved looking at the old fotos that Marian had laying around. Her home was unique and filled with lots of needlework and stichery that she has done over the many years. She has lots of antiques and old quilts and nick-nacks.Here's the thing.....Great Grandparents (whom I never met) Hannora and SidneyWrightThey had several children.Polly (Grandmommy to me) Aunt Hattie, Aunt Sue, EA, Harris, 2 little ones that died (BC and unnammed baby girl.)The only one left is Aunt Hattie.Aunt Hattie is sister to Aunt Sue and Grandmommy (Polly). I was somewhat leery when I learned my travel day would be April Fool’s Day and hoped no untoward “jokes” would be played on me. That Wednesday, April 1, 2015, found me awakening to a mild but overcast day – nothing threatening, but a layer of gray gloom obscured the blue skies. I took a brief time out during teardown to chat with a neighbor and got underway AFTER the morning rush hour since my trip north from South Main RV Park to Diamond Jacks Casino & Resort in Bossier City LA would take me northward through most of metro Houston. Irene, my GPS, directed me onto U.S. 59 until I reached Carthage TX. There I turned northeastward on U.S. 79 until I reached its intersection with I-20 near Greenwood LA. A short drive eastward on ... read more

We're on our way (finally) ! After a week's delay due to our son, Jeffrey's, unexpected Gall Bladder surgery, we're on our way to Shreveport, LA and then on to Destin, FL. Spent the day yesterday loading up Stormy, the Motor Coach, so we could get an early start today, and, boy, was it early ! We planned on leaving orignally about 8 am but that got moved up to 4 am, and the reality, was 2:30 am ! For those of you who know my husband, you'll know why. He is crazy ( yes, this is the same man who restored our 1907 Mesta Park home basically single handedly, built an inground swimming pool by hand with a shovel and a wheelbarrow, and built the cabin at our country place) with boundless energy ! We ... read more

Okay, so it we didn't actually stay in Shreveport, but that was the only town name that was close to where we were. Okay, if anyone has google maps, hop onto it and search "Grand Cane, Louisiana" and that is the town we stayed in. So it was a bright and early start so that we could beat the early morning traffic… although the day after Christmas not many people were on the road, I suppose they were either still asleep (as we should have been) or extremely hungover from the Christmas celebrations. So at 8.30am we drove out of Roxmere Drive and headed for Grand Cane, Louisiana! The drive itself was predicted to be about 16 hours total, split over two days of driving. We crammed the 5 of us, Lucky, all luggage and my ... read more
