Story about this area

Two of the tour company staff representatives who accompanied us on this tour worked for a government contractor during Katrina. This picture, on the dock behind Mardi Gras World, was where they parked their RV along with many other volunteers and contractors. Mardi Gras World, adjacent to the Morial Convention Center, were both used for housing and feeding refugees and volunteers. This area also had portable showers and toilets for workers to use, and their job was to keep this area clean and stocked. They were here for 6 months.
