In less than 48 hours we will be leaving for Brazil and we only have about 101 things we need to finish before we start our journey. Isn't that how it always goes? For us anyways! Since our last posting Heather spent a couple weeks in Spokane visiting with her parents and cleaning out some lingering belongings, while I have been here in Idaho Falls visiting my family. Make all the potato, in-bred, and trailer park jokes that you want....100% Idaho homegrown and proud of it! Fortunately, I only had to spend 2 weeks without Heather, and we met up in Boise, ID for a weekend Halloween Celebration with our buddy Alan, and a celebration it was. I drove over on the Friday before Halloween and Heather was planning on driving down from Spokane Saturday morning. ... read more

I thought I should blog Boise a bit, lest my readers elsewhere be under the impression that nothing exciting happens here. I quickly pulled out of my post-France funk and have been thoroughly enjoying my time at home before I set off again. My days are full of riding my bike along the Boise River and visiting friends. My evenings are booked with going out for one more drink with friends I won’t see in a couple years. I have managed to escape the heat in the valley a couple times and go up north of town to float the Payette River with friends. So, here’s a quick synopsis of the past few days. This will probably be interesting only to my friends who have never been to Boise, or Idaho, or the States. Last Wednesday ... read more

If you want to read in English skip down to the bottom of the blog. It’s not a translation, but I did break out of the French eventually. Je veux ... read more

Today we drove to Idaho. It was a beautiful drive, because near us all the flat land was covered in snow, and beyond that we could see snow-covered mountains. Idaho is only 20 minutes from Logan. We passed the Pepperidge Farm factory in Richmond, Utah and went all the way to the town in Idaho where they filmed Napoleon Dynamite.... read more

Here it is; the report of the Oly Trio’s September 2004 Vacation and Photography trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park. The report is divided into four parts. This is Part 2. Some images of this photo safari are available for view and purchase at my online gallery NW Exposures. Sun 9/12 With an early start, we visited the St. Anthony Sand Dunes, north of Rexburg, Idaho. Off-road vehicles have taken over a large section of the dunes. We found some perimeter slopes to photograph, and then continued our journey along scenic highway 33 west of the Teton Range. After Victor, ID, we crawled up 12% grades of Teton Pass through the Targhee National Forest in second gear. Arriving in Jackson, WY, we stayed at the Virginian RV Campground. The Virginian. Nancy did the ... read more

February, 1986 My father was working for an Exxon-affiliate in Colombia and he was transferred to Boise, ID. I know, of all places we get shipped to Boise. Everyone always makes a weird face when I mentioned I lived there. I really don’t have much of an opinion of it, as I was very young; I just have very vague childhood memories. My mom says she liked it a lot; it was a nice, quiet town. It only had one shopping center, and the first mall was being built when we left. I guess I can say this is when and where I learned English. I was two-and-half years old when we lived there. I have some memories of pre-school, a neighbor’s dog, toys, parts of our house, and thanks to pictures, snow. For some quick ... read more
