Last entry.. Internet aint working too well so most of the videos never uploaded.
The first few of these pictures are of the HIlton in Narita... not quite as nice as the one in Shinjuku, but still pretty good. Much more western in style too, larger rooms. A few pictures of Terminal 1 Narita, this was my first time there (JAL flies out of the nicer Terminal 2), but wasn't too bad. The flight itself was pretty good, lots of room to spread out which was nice. Also while waiting for the other guys to board the plane I ended up killing time chatting up this rather beautiful Chinese girl, Michelle, who happened to miss the same flight we did. Her final stop was Seattle, but after hearing the horror story of our 38 hour trip she felt a lot better about her situation!!
Most of the pictures however are from our stop over in Honolulu. Turns out we actually had a pretty good time checking out the beach. I think Matt's the one who said we basically paid $250 to visit Honolulu, which isn't that bad if you think of it. Especially since when we tried to see
how much booking the same flights were were on would cost about $4000.
The beach was about an hour away by TheBus (not the bus, it's TheBus). Really nice beach, nice water, and pretty busy but not overly so. People swimming, surfing, and a lot of boats. Didn't stay in the sun too much (no sunscreen, never planned on this!) After a couple of hours we had to head back to the airport to catch our flight to Minneapolis. On the way back I think I started to get delirious... I kept nodding off and hearing the bus announce the Airport stop.. about 6 times. Aaron thought I was nuts kept thinking we were at our stop... The Airport itself was pretty lame, considering how impressive I had expected, it's probably one of the worse airports I've been in, probably hasn't been renovated in like 20 years. Didn't help we had to take our bags and go out of security then right back in...
Once we reached Minneapolis found out we had to grab our bags AGAIN and go through security.. AGAIN. Ended up doing this at every airport stop we stopped at. The first person we talked
to about our flight basically gave us this "screw off" type answer.. as did almost everyone else we talked to. We were trying to get on Standby for an earlier flight out of Minn., and the information we were getting we knew wasn't right.. Finally after going through security we found someone who provided good service, who was able to get us on a standby flight back to Edmonton after only 5 hours waiting there, not the 15 we expected. Also she got our luggage moved on the flight, which we knew they had to do anyway contrary to what the earlier Delta agent told us, since you can't really have your luggage go on flights your not on for security reasons. No kidding! The final flight was cramped but was happy to get on it. Again I kept dozing off then waking up thinking I was somewhere else. Interesting feeling trying to walk when you think your in an airport, and realize your seat belted into your seat and kept hitting my bag in front of me.... Ended up getting home around 3, and bid sayonara to a rather good trip with a surprising twist at the end.
Thanks for reading, now to catch some sleep...
