This is our travel day when we leave Maui headed for Kauai. We spent a few last precious hours in our favorite infinity pool, then got packed up and made our way to the airport. On the way, Jeff & Allison stopped at the Big Kahuna Surf Shop and picked up the pictures from our surfing lessons - they will appear in blog entry soon. The short flight was uneventful, and we landed in sunny Kauai around 4pm.

During our drive from the airport to the resort, we got a chance to see the different geography of this island... lush and green mountains much closer to us. The small Koa Kea Hotel is modern and elegant. Lots of white and chrome. The rooms are very nicely appointed, including a luxurious bath. After enjoying our new vacation view for a while, we walked 10 minutes away to dinner at Keoki's Paradise. Very unique, open-air tropical setting. Everyone enjoyed their meals and very much enjoyed their drinks. We stopped in at the lobby bar for a nightcap after our walk back to the hotel, and struck up a nice conversation with the friendly barkeep. Everyone tried something a little different to drink

- Jeff had a single malt scotch for the first time: Macallan 18 year. Burns so good!

Finally, we all hit the sack looking forward to our first full day in Kauai tomorrow.

I have been remiss
Oh Jeff, your first single malt. I have been remiss in my education of your tastes. Though I must admit, single malt would not have been my choice in a tropical location.
