Monday was departure day for the Knapp family. We were sad to see this day come. We decided to meet for brunch. Tried IHOP but the wait was long and the crowd was big. Geeze......where did all the people come from? So we jumped back in the car and went to Denny's, just outside of Tropical Palms on 192.
Along this short route, there are several homeless people who have their "spot". One chunky guy keeps a dog with him.....a sympathy prop. I feel so sad for the dog....but not for this guy. He does not seem any worse for the wear in his open air abode. He's just a big, lazy slob. He has mounds of junk piled high all around his faded, low slung camp chair. He sleeps there most of the time....moth open & drool.
Another homeless man is perched up on a cement rail bench located at the traffic light corner. He used to have a lawn chair but it's gone now....wonder if someone stole it. Anyway, when turning at the traffic light to go to Denny's, we noticed this homeless guy relieving himself in the bushes....nice! Of course, I had to snap a couple pictures.
If only Lulu could have been sitting on the cement bench...that would have been a photo for the ages. There is always something that catches your eye as you travel around this area.
Once at Denny's, we placed our orders. It was busy here too. Must be all the spring breakers haven't all gone home! It took a long time to get our meals but that gave us more time to visit with our family. It was noon when we were done eating and time to say our good-byes.
Out in the parking lot, Lory noticed a stuffed giraffe standing next to the "cheap tickets" (Theme Park Tickets) booth. Having just recently watched April the Giraffe on Facebook deliver her calf (finally), I had to get a picture of this giraffe to use at a later date on the "April" site. Then, they were off. They had to drive to the Sanford, Florida Airport. Upon their return to NY, Lory texted us and said everything went well for them. Good...very good!
We came back to our RV. Our park is sooooo empty now. So many open barren slabs.....where just a few weeks ago were filled and busy
with our friends. Where has everyone gone? Home....that's where. They all have made their journey home. We are few in number as the last of the lingering stragglers. It's kind of sad. I'm feeling restless. It's time to go home. Fortunately, our dear friends, Sam & Sandy are still here. Together, we will carry on with our adventures until we finally pull out and head home. I think our departure date will be on Monday, April 24th.
Tomorrow, a golf cart place is coming here to pick up our golf cart. They will store it for us until we return to Tropical Palms again. They will deliver it back here when we call for it. Wish we could bring it home with us but we have no way to do that. It will be fine. We have another golf cart at home.
On Friday, the fellow and his crew who washed and waxed our RV when we first arrived down here, returns and washes our RV again....just a wash. Lots of dust and pollen have fallen on our rig during our wonderful winter stay here in Florida. No snow to worry about....just dust and pollen. It is truly
a different world done here. Wouldn't want to stay all year here, though....too many, many bugs are arriving and increasing. The temperature is getting very hot. I like hot but not this hot and steamy.
An insurance man is also coming here this week to take a picture of our car following that disgusting incident at Disney's Springs parking garage. We gave our statement and told him that this was a scam set- up and to deny their claim. They should be arrested for insurance fraud! Don't get me going, again.
Trying to empty our freezer, Sam & Sandy joined us for supper tonight. We took a long ride on the golf cart because it is our last ride together until next year. We did see one small alligator in the park's pond. Hopefully, it will be here when we all come back to Tropical Palms. See you later, Alligator! Cory & I spent all day packing up all our non-essentials: my knic-knacs, pictures and lights on the inside. Our lawn decor and extras were put away by Cory on the outside. It's not as much fun doing the packing up as it was doing the putting up
when we arrived. Such is life.
Make sure you all have gathered your stuff together, too. We'll probably put your stuff in the car when we leave. We'll pack it around all our lawn chairs that ride home there. Make the most of these few days we have left. It will be many months before we return.
Summer for us is going to be extra busy with our auction coming up. We are planning that you will lend a hand in helping get all the items together.....it's going to be a BIG job! Many hands make for light work. We will appreciate all the help you can lend us....that's what friends are for.
See you at the next blog. Our time together is fading but the memories we have made will last forever.
