Tuesday Nov 11

We spent a very enjoyable day with Nancy's cousin Ellen. We went north about an hour and a half from her home in Cocoa Beach to Blue Spring, a manatee reserve. We saw many manatees lazily floating in the 'warm' spring waters ... though when some young Spanish-speaking guy dove into the water he came up looking very cold indeed.

We had lunch at Arby's (pretty much the only 'restaurant' around that didn't look like it had once been a gas station), increasing our burger count to 5.

In the afternoon we drove around looking for alligators in some special wildlife area close to the space centre (where Ellen works on shuttle engines - how cool is that?) We drove for about three quarters of an hour and had pretty much given up when we finally saw one.

Then we drove home and saw three alligators by the side of the road as well as a wild hog and an armadillo.
