MOSI
Front Entrance So today to help try to catch up my blog I thought I would describe two days. So the day after our move in drama, we were ready for a nice easy day. We decided it would be nice to find a place to run. So after a quick breakfast we went to a nearby area. We ended up doing about five miles that day, the path was pretty good, and we saw our first alligator! For a picture check out Stephanie's facebook. We also saw several turtles, and a couple lizards but nothing else terribly interesting happened as we ran.
After we got back we showered and got ready. We needed to go to the hospital where Stephanie will be working. Neither of us wanted her to get lost on her first day. We first went the most direct route over the highway. At this time of day, we didn't run into much traffic, but just to be on the safe side, we drove back and made the GPS use a different route to get to the hospital. This route was a little more round about and thus took a little more time, but it will certainly be quicker

Lobby to take that longer route if it saves her a wait through rush hour.
After trying both routes we needed something else to do. We thought we would take a look at a science museum that we get into for free, because we have a membership with a science museum in Columbus. Anyway the museum is called MOSI pronounced mo see, we were told by a local.
So after a quick lunch, off we went to MOSI. It is visually a very impressive place. It's got Florida's only domed IMAX Theater, and they have a two or three story ropes course on the outside. Since it was so large we figured that we would have to come at least twice to see everything. So on that day we decided to look at the traveling exhibit and the other permanent exhibits in the museum. The traveling exhibit happened to be on drug addiction and drug trafficking. It was quite informative, but not very crowded for some reason. Next to this exhibit was a children's area. It had a lot of interactive exhibits for kids to play with, a slow motion video, a stop motion camera, logic puzzles, a

The Giant Checkers were pretty fun. sticky wall, and several other cool things.
After we finished looking at everything on the first floor we went up to the second, this is where the entrance to the theater is, and where an exhibit called disasterville is located. Disasterville is an interactive area as well. People can go into a set that looks like a building and experience what it's like to go through an earthquake, wildfire, tornado, and hurricane. There's also an area that explains tsunamis and lightning. On this floor as well is a faux weather center, where we talked with a local about the area where we ran and he explained that there were usually at least two alligators in the ponds. We ran by a lot of ponds...
The third floor exhibit was called The Amazing You. It pretty much takes people through the whole process of living, several different health and nutrition issues, various diseases, and on through to death. There were several interesting games and scientific puzzles to do up there as well.
While the museum was very informative and interesting I have to say that I think COSI has it beat, as far as exhibits go. The fact

This was pretty cool to watch. that you have to pay more for tickets to the IMAX and ropes course on top of almost $30 a ticket to the museum makes me a little hesitant to recommend it. But if you can find a discount on the price I would encourage you to explore this museum, it's entertaining for children and hopefully informative as well. Adults will also likely enjoy themselves as well, and probably learn a thing or two there as well. I know we did.
After the museum we decided to go to dinner at a place called Lee Roy Selman's. It's apparently owned by a former football star. Anyway, it being a Sunday evening it was a little crowded with people watching the various games. The food was quite good. We both got a chicken dish, but with different styles of sauce, both were excellent. The service was very friendly, and we were served quickly considering they were so busy. If you get the chance try it.
The next day was Stephanie's first day of work at the hospital. It was an orientation day, so she didn't have to be there until 7:00, but she had to stay until 7:00 as
The Sticky Wall
We wanted to try this, but the line was too long. well. So as Stephanie went about her day at work, I set to looking for gainful employment of my own. As most of you know I am a teacher, and am working on getting my subbing license here in Florida. Unfortunately I couldn't even apply to get one until we had an address so I couldn't get things moving while we were still in Ohio. Anyway, I got most of the paperwork finished online, but I have to also submit a reference rating sheet. Which means that I have to send the sheet to two previous supervisors, have them fill out the paper, and send it back to me before they will activate my application.
So with as much done on that as I could I turned to getting certified with the Sylvan Learning Center. I had about 18 twenty minute slide shows to get through, but I managed. I do have to say that after awhile they did get a bit repetitive. To help break some of them up, I went to Publix (a grocery chain here) and got some lunch. I also checked in with a few local businesses that we had seen had some help wanted
Second Floor
Sounds like a nice place. signs. I filled out the paperwork at the places that had paperwork and turned in the applications. (Still no word yet sadly). At a bank, they told me they only had online applications, and when I looked for Tampa jobs, on their website it said that there were only management level positions available. So no luck there.
When I finished all of the Sylvan training, I submitted my resume to a local center's website, so I'm hopeful something will come of that. I also checked online and saw that Busch Gardens has some positions open. So I decided to wait and if I get no word back from Sylvan by the weekend I'll submit an application there as well.
By this time it was getting on in the afternoon, and I decided that I needed a break from the great job search. I went down to the hotel's fitness area and ran five miles. After that I showered, read for a little while, and then Stephanie texted and said she was on her way back. She said that she would meet me in the lobby so that we could go somewhere to eat dinner.
We picked out
a local brick oven pizza place whose name escapes me at the moment. Regardless, the food was good, and the atmosphere was quiet so we got a chance to talk about our days. Stephanie had a very good day, and said that it seemed like a really good hospital. So we both had good productive days. Although I felt that hers was probably more productive than mine she disagrees. Still we both did get some work done.
Next up Disney Part Deus!
