The aroma of Deb’s fresh brewing coffee woke me up. Hmmm it was going to be a great day. It was sunday morning. We chit- chatted like good girlz we are. We discussed how to address the aggressive behavior of divers trying to see our subjects. Steve was still half awake. I threw him and his gear in the back of my truck and headed to the west side of the bridge. When we got there our group was already in the water. I followed their flags and I saw a group of 3 divers chasing Diane. At some point I thought they were going to land on top of her and her subject: an orange-tinted striated froggie so I cut in front to protect Diane. The current pushed me towards them and of course the divers pushed me out of the way…what a mess.
Diane and I continued our dive. She showed me a shark casing. I had no idea what it was until she told me later. Then we joined the rest of the group at the dworf froggie area. Each of us searched a different side and marked subjects for the others to circle around and take
turns photographing them. I found 2 of the whitish color dworfies by my black bottle and then the usual bigger white one on the other side by the green cereal bowl and 4 limey green ones. FOUR! Initially I thought the first one I saw was the bright green one from the other day. Then while I was trying to figure out what angle to shoot them from, Lurren saw a tinier darker green one very close to the rest. That is the one I think I saw last week. I lost count how many froggies were together. 6 or 7? with out counting the others spread around. I was so excited I went and signaled everyone before I took a shot. When I got my turn the current was so strong that It was very difficult to stay in the position I wanted to shoot them. But I didn’t care. I was so excited I found some different color ones. The tide turned. It was extremely dirty every one had left so I headed back. On the way to the beach I saw Lureen going crazy trying to get Debs attention so I stopped: She had found a Sargassum
Sargassum Frogfish
Hiding in the Sargassum froggie! I think it was the first one of the season. Gorgeous! I took a couple of shots and got out of the water to call Steve. I made every one that was out of the water go re-fill bottles and get back in the water. (Now Kovacs owes us because he won a photo competition with the shot he took that day, especially me because I made him get in the water instead of taking the shot myself!...oh boy. lol).
We all did a second dive searching the sargassum. The girlz found a total of 3 sargassum nudis and Linda brought one to me to take shots. Thanx so much Linda. She asked me to put it back on the seaweed when a was finished. What a great dive to end a great weekend. I love all my dive buddies!. Lureen: Welcome Back from Indonesia!!!
(I am posting here one of the shots that I like from that day. I will post the rest of the photos as I get to them....I have a fewthat might be good from that day....and by the way it is time to have another dive camp weekend at admirals!!. Also I
miss diving as a group. It used to be so much fun and it was so much more productive for all of us. We got more subjects and better photos that way!)
