When I woke, my feet seemed better already. They weren't aching as much and the swelling had gone down considerably. We finally broke camp and soon set off for our next destination – Orlando, which was the longest trip of the tour. Because of my feet, it was decided that I would sit on the right side of the back seat, which is where the aisle was, so I could rest my feet on the wheel arch in front of me.
Sadly the only way out of Key West was the same as coming in, so we had the same lack of variety of views on the trip. Still, it could have been worse, it could've been raining and we could have a limited view.
When we finally reached our next site, and after checking in, Todd came back with the offer of taking a break from camping. I think the two previous nights, and the storms had taken its toll on some people, and so we decided to hire 2 cabins, one for the guys, and one for the girls. I think we all jumped at the opportunity.
Each cabin was small, but enough room to sleep 6, with
3 double beds and a fold out sofa bed. It also offered wonderful feeling air con, a decent kitchen area, fridge and a TV! We quickly felt we made the right decision.
We decided who was sleeping with whom in the guy’s cabin, with G and me sharing one bed, which had the en suite bathroom, Scott and Graham had the bed area up in the roof and Neal and Mark had the other bedroom. Todd was happy with the sofa bed in the living room.
Having dumped our stuff and sorted it out, the girls joined us in our cabin for a kebab skewer dinner, whilst Todd talked us through our options for the free day tomorrow. We were in Orlando, so our options werevaried. It is of course the home of Disneyland, as well as SeaWorld, Universal Studios and many more.
Having been to Orlando with Frances, Mark and Laura only 3 years earlier, I had done it all, so was not fussed what I did and in managing to do it all. Everyone else though was really struggling to work out what to do, as we only had a limited amount of time, and not enough
to do it all, not even all 4 parts of Disneyland.
Anyway after dinner, we headed to Downtown Disney, a grown up part of Disneyland, with bars and clubs. Sadly it had changed a lot from when Todd worked here one semester when he was at University, but we killed some time by volunteering some of the girls for an audience participation game, and had a right laugh in doing so.
We walked around afterwards, grabbing some ice cream, and then found our way to a bar, just in time as last orders were soon called. Here I ordered my first Jack Daniels (although in America, you just call it Jack) and coke. It was something.
We soon headed back for the cabins to get some rest for the long free day tomorrow. My word, the air con was so inviting as you slept!
We didn’t watch it, but the Celtics won the 5th finals game, going 3-2 up in the series.
